ELKTON — The sixth annual U.S. 340 Yard Sale will be held Saturday, Sept. 10.

The event, which stretches from Grottoes through Stanley to Luray, is sponsored by the Elkton Progressive Improvement Committee.

JoAnn Foltz came up with the idea for the yard sale and said it originally ran from south of Merck to Kite’s Store in Newport.

“Anyone can participate or put signs out to their yard sale,” she said.

Some participants will begin setting up on Friday.

The event will include some food stands and rentals at the Grove Hill Community Center, which is located at 8001 U.S. 340 just north of Shenandoah.

For more information about the Grove Hill center, call 652-8060.

Folks can set up at the Junior Order of United American Mechanics’ building off Shenandoah Avenue in Elkton for free on a first-come, first-served basis.

EPIC started the event to get people into Elkton, and it grew from there. — Caleb M. Soptelean
