Brews and Blues festival to feature dozens of breweries

FRONT ROYAL — Local and regional brewers and musicians will be featured Saturday at the Front Royal-Warren County Chamber of Commerce's eighth-annual Brew and Blues Festival.

About 55 beers will be featured, including selections from Virginia breweries and more well-known national brands, according to Chamber of Commerce President Niki Foster.

The beer samplings will be accompanied by performances from Hypnotic Willie and Bugsy Cline and the Blue Devils.

Drinking is not necessary to enjoy the day, Foster said. There will also be yard games such as corn hole, myriad of food selections and 40 vendors.

The festival is scheduled from noon to 7 p.m. in the Village Commons and on Chester Street. While a portion of Chester Street will be closed to traffic, Main Street will remain open.

General admission is free. Advanced $20 beer tasting tickets are available online until 11 p.m. Friday at brewandblues.com; and until 5 p.m. at the Chamber of Commerceís 201 E. 2nd St. office and the Visitors Center. Tickets will be available at the gate for $25.

One ticket provides five tastings, or two full beers and one tasting. Additional taste tickets can be purchased for $10. Proceeds from the event fund the chamberís programs throughout the year, Foster said.

About 2,500 people attended last year, and the festival usually draws both locals and out-of-towners, she said.

Attendance highly depends on weather, and with forecasts of a partly cloudy 82 degree day, Foster hopes to see a turnout of 3,000.

She encouraged people to come out to sample breweries they may not have visited. It is also a chance to enjoy the company of friends and family in downtown Front Royalís, she said.

"It's just a wonderful opportunity to be downtown in a fun environment, enjoying beautiful Front Royal," Foster said.
