Bridge removal to start Monday

The Warren Sentinel
FRONT ROYAL — Workers plan to start deconstructing the old South Fork Bridge on Monday, but donít expect a big boom.

The removal process will not include explosives, VDOT spokesman Ken Slack said. The bridge, which recently went out of service after about 75 years, will be disassembled piece by piece. The process will take about four months to complete, Town Manager Steven Burke said.

After the old bridge is removed, workers from G.A. and F.C. Wagman of York, Pa., will build two additional lanes onto the new bridge in its place. The entire $72.2 million project is scheduled for completion late next year.
