FRONT ROYAL ó Donna McEathron defeated Shawn McClosky in the race for South River Districtís seat on the Warren County School Board by 284 votes.

McEathron said she is excited to get started on the job and that she is grateful to all of her supporters.

"It makes you feel very good when you have all the support of the voters, my friends, my family. It definitely made me feel very good that people believed in me and believed that I could get this done," she said.

Upon entering office, McEathron said the first changes she would like to see are renovations to Ressie Jeffries Elementary School. She said it was sad to see the conditions at the school during a visit.

McClosky said he wishes McEathron well in her new position and does not think getting about 40 percent of the votes was a bad showing. He is content with how the election turned out, knowing he put forth his best effort.

"I don't think that thereís anything else that I could have done differently and Iím walking away knowing that I did everything that I could," McClosky said. "The votes fell where they did, so Iím content with that."
