Front Royal Council appoints former Strasburg official as new community development director

FRONT ROYAL — Town Council has tapped Strasburgís former downtown coordinator to serve as the townís first community development director.

Felicia Hart will perform similar duties in her new position.

She was chosen after council spent months hammering out the job description and interviewing candidates.

The job was advertised in September as a position to "foster a progressive, business-friendly environment so that current and new businesses can thrive."

Hart's duties would include outreach to town businesses, assisting with advertising and promotion for the town, facilitating community development projects and acting as a liaison with the Front Royal-Warren County Economic Development Authority, Front Royal-Warren County Chamber of Commerce, Front Royal Independent Business Alliance, Lord Fairfax Small Business Development Center and other such organizations.

Council approved a salary of $45,000 for Hart, who will start Friday.

Hart served as Strasburgís downtown director for about a year and a half. She also has worked as marketing and development director for the Community Foundation of the Northern Shenandoah Valley, marketing communications manager for American Woodmark Corp., marketing assistant for First Bank and executive director for First Night Winchester.

Councilwoman Bebhinn Egger, who served on the committee that reviewed applications and interviewed applicants, said there were several excellent applicants for the job.

"I'm very excited about the future with Felicia here to help us," she said.
