Mayor won’t seek a fourth term

The Warren Sentinel

FRONT ROYAL — Mayor Tim Darr announced Monday night that he will not seek a fourth term.

"I'm just tired," he said in a brief statement at Monday night's Council meeting.

Darr said he discussed his plans with his wife Tammy and came to the conclusion that three terms was enough.

Darr, a security specialist with the U.S. Department of Defense, was elected mayor in 2010 and re-elected in 2012 and 2014. He also served on Council from 2004 to 2008, serving as vice mayor from 2006 through the rest of his term.

He also served five years on the Warren County School Board, including two years as chairman.

No candidates have been announced for the mayoral election, which will be held in November.

Darr is the second town official this year to announce he will not seek re-election. Councilman Bret Hrbek announced in January that he would step down when his term ends Dec. 31. No candidates have come forward for his seat on Council.
