LURAY, Feb. 22 — The body of Leonard Fox, 73, was found Monday in a field off of Rosedale Lane. He had been missing since Feb. 7 and was last seen on Horsepen Road. He was operating a green 1999 Ford Ranger pickup truck, with a license number ZVY-3503.

"We found Mr. Fox," said C.S. "Bow" Cook, Luray Police Chief. "He was deceased. The sheriff's office is handling the scene where he was found."

The initial police report stated that Fox had a “cognitive impairment and the disappearance poses a credible threat to his safety.”

Philip Baker, Major Chief Deputy with the Sheriff's Department, said that a call was received around 4:30 p.m. on Monday.

"A local farmer walking by discovered the vehicle," Baker said. "It was partially obstructed from view, but he recognized it as the vehicle we were looking for and immediately called us."

Officers from the Sheriff's Department and Luray Police Department arrived on the scene and confirmed that it was Fox.

"The investigation is ongoing and we are remaining in contact with Chief Cook," Baker said. "We are still determining what happened and we are not releasing any more details."

Baker said he will be able to provide more information once the investigation concludes.

"Sheriff Cubbage, Chief Cook and all members of the Page County law enforcement community want to extend our deepest sympathy to the Fox family and ask each of you to keep the family in your thoughts and prayers," Baker said.
