New business could employ about 40

FRONT ROYAL — Williams Brothers Corp. is converting 20,000 square feet of its building on Progress Drive into operating space for AG Laser Technology, a new metal fabrication company.

Vice President of Williams Brothers and owner of AG Laser Technology Angie Williams said the metal fabrication could include the manufacturing of widgets and small and large steel products. Metal fabrication includes processes such as cutting and bending pieces of metal.

Williams said that AG Laser Technology, which is scheduled to be open in one to two weeks, has a lot of room for growth, and it looks to add numerous employees to operate the machines within the next year.

"According to the engineer, by next year weíre looking at maybe 40 people," Williams said.

Williams said AG Laser Technology would be a full fabrication company and also provide a four stage powder coat metal painting facility, a service many metal fabrication companies are unable to perform.

"They can come in here, and we can paint for them," Williams said.

Machines such as a trumpf lasers and a robot welding arm are already in the building and ready to function, Williams said. She added that Trumpf lasers are state-of-the-art machines which many metal fabrication companies do not have.

"It's a company that has machinery that can create and fabricate anything that is made of steel," Williams said.

Williams said she and her husband decided to open AG Lasers Technology to leave a legacy to their children.

Williams Brothers has operated in Warren County for 25 years and it manufactures access panels and doors, roof hatches, floor doors, ladders and guardrails. Also a part of Williams Brothers is Strike First Corp. of America.

"It's a family business. Our children, we talked with them, and they said definitely they want to continue the legacy of the Williams family," Williams said.

Williams said while AG Lasers Technology is testing the waters, it would do manufacturing for their current distribution. She said the goal is to have other fabricators come to them with over run, and eventually obtain government contracts.
