Page County man charged in connection with shooting 61-year-old roommate

SHENANDOAH, March 29 ― A Page County man is being held without bond after allegedly shooting his 61-year-old roommate.

Travis Allen Grimsley, 26, was arrested last Wednesday and charged with aggravated malicious wounding, use of a firearm in the commission of a felony, discharge of a firearm in an occupied dwelling and reckless handling of a firearm.

The shooting occurred at 1:46 a.m. Tuesday, March 29, at 1772 Comertown Road near Shenandoah. According to Maj. Phil Baker of the Page County Sheriff's Office, Allen Comer, who shares the residence with Grimsely, suffered a single gunshot wound to the lower abdomen and upper leg. He was transported to the U.Va. Medical Center in Charlottesville, where he was listed in fair condition.

Baker said investigators are unsure of a motive.

“I don't know that we have one,” he said, adding that for now, investigators are not releasing further details about the nature of the shooting.

As of press time Tuesday, Grimsley was being held without bond at the Page County Jail.
