Teacher resigns amid probe; officials mum about possible misconduct investigation

FRONT ROYAL — An unidentified Warren County High School teacher has been put on administrative leave because of possible misconduct, School Superintendent Greg Drescher said.

The Warren County Sheriffís office is investigating.

Neither Drescher nor Warren County Sheriff Daniel McEathron would reveal the teacherís name or what type of misconduct was under investigation.

Drescher said he could not discuss any particulars of the investigation. He said publishing the names of those accused or the names of accusers could have damaging effects on individuals who could ultimately be exonerated.

"We're not releasing the name of the teacher or the juvenile," McEathron said. "We're conducting an investigation, and have been doing so since, I guess, April15."

The teacher, who Drescher identified as a female, was placed on administrative leave April 15 and has subsequently resigned. Drescher said the teacher has not been on school property since that time and will not be returning.

"We take these allegations seriously; we also need to let the process of investigation unfold," Drescher said.

McEathron said the sheriffís office is sifting through all the information and deciding with the commonwealth what is factual.

"Like any other investigation, we're trying to come up with some facts of the matter," McEathron said. "Right now, it's just based on teacher misconduct."
