Teacher, students treated in spray attack; boy faces assault charges after Tuesday incident at WCHS

FRONT ROYAL — A physical altercation Tuesday at Warren County High School led to the arrest of a male student, according to a Warren County Sheriffís Office news release.

A physical fight occurred between a boy and girl at about 1:30 p.m., the release said. Using a ìcommercially available self-defense spray,î the male student attacked the female student and a female faculty member who tried to break up the attack.

Two other female students were indirectly assaulted by the spray, the release said.

None of the people involved were identified in the release.

All victims were treated at the Warren Memorial Hospital and released, the release said.

The boy was charged with one count of assault and battery, two counts of assault and battery with a caustic substance and one count of disorderly conduct, the release said. Additional charges are pending.

Schools Superintendent Greg Drescher said the sheriffís news release contained all the details he could provide.

The boy was taken to the Northwest Regional Juvenile Detention Center in Winchester, the release said. He appeared Wednesday in Warren County Juvenile and Domestic Relations Court. No further details were available as of press time.
