Town manager resigns

The Shenandoah Valley-Herald
STRASBURG — Town Council reluctantly voted to accept Town Manager Ryan Spitzer's resignation after a closed work session on Monday evening. Spitzer's final day at Town Hall will be May 3. He accepted a position as Town Manager of Pineville, N.C., a community of 9,000 just outside of Charlotte.

"We are certainly sad to see him go," said Mayor Rich Orndorff, Jr. "It was an opportunity he couldn't pass up, and we wish him the very best of luck."

Spitzer has been in Strasburg since July of 2015 and has made progress on multiple projects during his tenure, including the Community Development Block Grant improvements to downtown, the Community Business Launch project (Rev-Up Strasburg), near completion of two large public works projects, and emphasis on beautification and quality of life improvements for its citizens.

"While transition is always difficult, this seemed an appropriate time to pass the baton," Spitzer said. "Strasburg's Town Council has recently been through a visioning session to help focus their efforts and give them and staff a list of priorities moving forward. I think the stage is set for multiple successes moving forward, especially with the great department heads currently in place and staff backing them up."

Council has not yet determined how they will move forward in their choice of a new Town Manager.
