Grottoes town manager has deep-seeded roots in town

Jeff Nicely, the recently-appointed Town Manager of Grottoes, won’t need a guided tour of the town’s streets to get acquainted with his new job. Nicely has lived all his life in town. He attended the old Grottoes Elementary School, before moving onto Montevideo Middle and Spotswood High schools. His parents still live in town. His deep-seeded roots in Grottoes have only added to his enthusiasm for his new job.

Shenandoah National Park’s new superintendent will wear two hats

Jim Northup, a 32-year veteran of the National Park Service, will also be the superintendent of the nearby Cedar Creek and Belle Grove National Historical Park. The historical park encompasses Civil War battlefield sites in Frederick, Warren and Shenandoah counties associated with the 1864 Battle of Cedar Creek.
