Front Royal Council casts final vote to move town elections from May to November

For the final vote Monday night on moving the town’s traditional May elections to November, there was little discussion and the measure passed with the same 5-1 margin it had on the first reading two weeks ago. Though the debate among the members of the Front Royal Town Council on moving elections to November has been largely settled for the past year, the even-vs.-odd -year wrangling had continued up until last week.

Boys charged with felonies after fire at elementary school

Two boys have been charged with four felonies and three misdemeanors in connection with the April 10 fire at E. Wilson Morrison Elementary School. Because the suspects are juveniles, their names have not been released. There were no injuries from the fire, which was started in the school's physical education room, located on the second floor.

Front Royal Council approves water/sewer deal for regional jail

The Front Royal Town Council approved a contract earlier this month to supply water and sewer to the RSW Regional Jail at 1.375 times the in-town rate for 60 years.

Woodstock man arrested, held at jail

A Woodstock man was arrested in Front Royal on April 5 and charged with two counts of distributing heroin, one count of distributing cocaine, and one count of possession of a firearm after being convicted of a violent felony.

No injuries in last weekend’s fires in Warren

A space heater and a car caused two separate fires last Saturday that resulted in estimated damages totaling $250,000, but left no one injured according to Warren County Fire and Rescue.
