Rena J. Lesko

Rena J. Gochenour Lesko, 77, of Ridgeville Corners, Ohio, died on Tuesday, Dec. 29, 2015, at Defiance Inpatient Hospice Center.

She was born on July 29, 1938, in Luray and was a daughter of the late Fred and Vertie Hinton Gochenour.

In 1969, she married James “Jim” Lesko, who survives.

Surviving in addition to her husband are a daughter, Deborah Jenkins of Harrisonburg; a son, Kenny Brusker of Stanley; two brothers, Nelson Gochenour of Luray, and Garnett Gochenour of Stanley; four sisters, Hilda Moyer of Luray, Valda Short of Archbold, Ohio, Lenis Lucas of Waldron, Mich., and Ruth Stump of Harrisonburg; two grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a son, Gary Wayne Brubaker; four brothers, Nevin “Ned,” Keith, Elwood and Carson Gochenour; and three sisters, Alma Rupp, Dorothy Gochenour and Joyce Keyser.

A graveside service was conducted on Wednesday, Jan. 13, 2016, at the Mount Zion Church of the Brethren Cemetery in Luray.

Gray obit addition

Born Feb. 22, 1933, George G. Gray, 82, of Stanley, was a son of the late Cletus and Laura Pettit Gray.
Mr. Gray died on Friday, Dec. 4, 2015. His full obituary was published in the Dec. 17, 2015 edition of the Page News and Courier.

Dove memorial

A memorial service for Judy Ann Dove will be conducted at noon on Saturday, Jan. 30, at Mount Carmel Regular Baptist Church.

Charlie W. Smith

Charlie Will Smith, 86, of Luray, died on Thursday, Jan. 21, 2016.

He was born on Feb. 9,1929, in Banner Elk, N.C., and was a son of the late William Partee Smith and Blanche C. Andrews Smith.

Mr. Smith was an Army veteran, having served during the Korean War. He worked for Immer Drywall Company for many years as a foreman and attended the Luray Seventh-day Adventist Church.

On June 21, 1957, he married the former Janet Marie McCormick of Giles, W.Va., who survives.

Surviving in addition to his wife are two sons, Charles Richard Smith of Amissville, and William P. Smith of Summerduck; three brothers, Paul and Hal Smith, both of Banner Elk, N.C., and Gene Smith of Nevada; a sister, Louise Kolesar of Lockport, N.Y.; three grandchildren, William L. Smith of Brandy Station, Alex T. Smith of Warrenton, and Lauren Smith of Summerduck; and three great-grandchildren, Liam, Peyton and Genevieve Smith, all of Brandy Station. He was preceded in death by two brothers, Claude and Frank Smith; and two sisters, Ann Buchanan and Daisy Harvell.

A funeral service will be conducted at 11 a.m. on Thursday, Jan. 28, at the Bradley Funeral Home by Pastor Sam N. Millen. Burial will be in the Smith Family Cemetery in North Carolina.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Thursday one hour prior to the service, from 10-11 a.m. (Paid Obituary)

Brian R. Foltz

Brian Ray Foltz, 41, of 943 Brady Rd., Stanley, died on Wednesday, Jan. 20, 2016.

He was born on April 8, 1974, in Luray and was a son of Jerry Ray Foltz and Doris Seal Foltz of Stanley.

Brian was a veteran of the United States Army. He owned and operated his own construction company and enjoyed demolition derbies.

Surviving in addition to his parents and his wife, Pam Foltz, are two sons, Brayden and Michael Bradley Foltz, both of Stanley; a daughter, Ali Foltz of Stanley; a stepson, Tylor Parsell of Stanley; a sister, Amy Foltz Painter of Luray; a brother, Eric Michael Foltz of Luray; and his grandmothers, Annie Samuels of Elkton, and Allene Orevaugh of Stanley. He was preceded in death by his grandfathers, Isaac C. Seal and Jack Foltz; and his grandmother, Gloria Foltz.

A funeral service was conducted on Monday, Jan. 25, at the Calvary Independent Brethren Church by the Rev. Charles R. Turner. Burial was in the Calvary Independent Brethren Cemetery in Stanley, with military honors by the VFW Comer-Jones Post 621.
