William C. Holloway


William Charles Holloway, 33, of Luray, died on Tuesday, April 12, 2016.

He was born on Jan. 16, 1983, in Ohio and was a son of Daniel David Holloway and Phyllis Kay Anderson Holloway of Luray.

He married Sandra Dee Holloway on Sept. 13, 2009. His wife and two daughters, Ava Rose Holloway and Elizabeth Anne Holloway, also died April 19 in a fire at the family home.

Surviving in addition to his parents are a son, Andrew David Holloway of Rileyville; and a sister, Teresa Seal of Luray.

A memorial service will be conducted at 6 p.m. on Thursday, April 28, at the Rileyville Baptist Church.



Sandra D. Holloway


Sandra Dee Holloway, 29, of Luray, died on Tuesday, April 12, 2016.

She was born on Feb. 16, 1987, in York, Pa., and was a daughter of John Gibson and Marjorie Anne Bonnet Gibson of Rileyville.

She married William Charles Holloway on Sept. 13, 2009. Her husband and two daughters, Ava Rose Holloway and Elizabeth Anne Holloway, also died April 19 in a fire at the family home.

Surviving in addition to her parents are a son, Andrew David Holloway of Rileyville; and a brother, Thomas Alexander Gibson of Rileyville.

A memorial service will be conducted at 6 p.m. on Thursday, April 28, at the Rileyville Baptist Church.



Ava R. Holloway


Ava Rose Holloway, 5, of Luray, died on Tuesday, April 12, 2016.

She was born on Oct. 12, 2010, in Harrisonburg and was a daughter of the late William Charles Holloway and Sandra Dee Holloway. Her parents and a sister, Elizabeth Anne Holloway, also died April 19 in a fire at the family home.

She is survived by a brother, Andrew David Holloway of Rileyville; and her grandparents, John Gibson and Marjorie Anne Bonnet Gibson of Rileyville, and Daniel David Holloway and Phyllis Kay Anderson Holloway of Luray.

A memorial service will be conducted at 6 p.m. on Thursday, April 28, at the Rileyville Baptist Church.



Elizabeth A. Holloway


Elizabeth Anne Holloway, 3, of Luray, died on Tuesday, April 12, 2016.

She was born on May 11, 2012, in Harrisonburg and was a daughter of the late William Charles Holloway and Sandra Dee Holloway. Her parents and a sister, Ava Rose Holloway, also died April 19 in a fire at the family home.

She is survived by a brother, Andrew David Holloway of Rileyville; and her grandparents, John Gibson and Marjorie Anne Bonnet Gibson of Rileyville, and Daniel David Holloway and Phyllis Kay Anderson Holloway of Luray.

A memorial service will be conducted at 6 p.m. on Thursday, April 28, at the Rileyville Baptist Church.



Mary E. Jepson 




Mary Ellen Jepson, 77, of Luray, died on Sunday, April 24, 2016.

She was born on Jan. 30, 1939, in New York and was a daughter of the late Walter Jones and Mary Knott Jones.

Her first husband, Michael McChesney, died on Nov. 26, 1993. She was also preceded in death by her second husband, Curtis Jepson.

She is survived by a daughter, Amy McChesney of Bristow; a son, Sean McChesney of New Market, Md.; a sister, Susie McGuiness of Arizona; and three grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a sister, Pricilla Jones.

A funeral service will be conducted at 2 p.m. on Saturday, April 30, at the Bradley Funeral Home.

The family will receive friends on Saturday at the funeral home one hour prior to the service, from 1-2 p.m.

Judith A. Painter


Judith Ann “Judy” Painter, 80, of Stanley, died on Sunday, April 24, 2016, at Sentara RMH Medical Center.

She was born on Jan. 1, 1936, in Luray and was a daughter of the late Desper Judd and Hazel Virginia Mauck Judd.

Mrs. Painter worked for the County of Page for 30 years as a bookkeeper.

On March 10, 1960, she married George Enoch Painter, who died on March 8, 1994.

She is survived by three sons, Chris J., Greg and Danny Ray Painter, all of Luray; a daughter, Debra P. Winecoff of Chesterfield; a brother, Gary E. Judd of Luray; three sisters, Betty E. Kibler, Marjorie Ellen Seal and Ginger Jenkins, all of Luray; five grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by four brothers, Jerry Allen, Reginald Desper, Thomas Fredrick and Devlin Judd; and two sisters, Wanda L. Fox and Anita Gale Gates.

A graveside service was conducted at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, April 27, at the Leake’s Chapel Cemetery in Stanley by Evangelist Doug Gochenour.



Perry D. Gray




Perry Dwight Gray, 53, of Stanley, died on Saturday, April 23, 2016.



He was born on Oct. 20, 1962, in Luray and was a son of Bonnie Lou Seekford Gray of Stanley and the late Perry Jennings Gray.

Surviving in addition to his mother are a sister, Pamela Puckett of Stanley; and two brothers, William Jennings and Grover Trenton Gray, both of Stanley.

A graveside service will be conducted at 11 a.m. on Saturday, April 30, at the Southard Family Cemetery in Stanley by Dr. J. Blaine Blubaugh.

The family will receive friends from 7-8 p.m. on Friday, April 29, at the Bradley Funeral Home.

Memorial contributions may be made to the family to help with expenses.



Larry W. Housden 




Larry Wayne Housden, 66, of Stanley, died on Saturday, April 23, 2016.

Mr. Housden was born on Feb. 16, 1950, in Stanley and was a son of the late Floyd Housden and Ethel Campbell Housden.

He is survived by two sons, Larry and Richie Housden, both of Stanley; two sisters, Virginia Turner and Faye Ryan, both of Stanley; and two grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a sister, Gail Wade; and two brothers, Franklin and Ralph Housden.

The family will receive friends from 7-8 p.m. on Thursday, April 28, at the Bradley Funeral Home.



Mary A. Derrenbacker


Mary Anne Derrenbacker, 76, of Charlottesville, died on Sunday, April 17, 2016.

She was born on Aug. 25, 1939, in Shenandoah and was a daughter of the late William Elwood Rau and Jewel Sylvia Sullivan Rau.

Mrs. Derrenbacker grew up in Shenandoah, graduated from Shenandoah High School and attended Shenandoah College at Dayton. She was employed as a secretary for many years, working at Rockingham National Bank in Harrisonburg, as well as church offices in Raleigh, N.C., and Highland, Ill.

Her husband of 47 years, Edward Lenn Derrenbacker, died in 2009.

She is survived by numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by two sisters, Joyce Combs and Norma Leap.

A funeral service was conducted on Saturday, April 23, at Christ United Methodist Church in Shenandoah by Pastor Stephen Creech. Burial was in Coverstone Cemetery in Shenandoah.

Barbara K. Olschofka


Barbara Klara Olschofka, 86, of Harrisonburg, died on Wednesday, April 20, 2016, at Sentara RMH Medical Center.

She was born on Feb. 21, 1930, in Heidelberg, Germany, and was a daughter of the late Johann Olschofka and Elizabeth Skudelny Olschofka.



Ms. Olschofka worked at Leggett’s and the Mimslyn in Luray.



On May 20, 1952, she married Karl E. Olschofka, who died on March 31, 2008.



She is survived by a son, Mike Olschofka of Lacey Spring; two daughters, Sue Lloyd of Richmond, and Judy Olschofka of Harrisonburg; a brother, Pater Olschofka; a sister, Ute Kannenberg; seven grandchildren; and one great-grandson.

A graveside service was conducted on Saturday, April 23, at Lacey Spring Cemetery.





Sammie E. Harner


Sammie Harriet Eckenroth Harner, 85, of Harrisonburg, formerly of Luray, died on Tuesday, April 19, 2016, at the Brookdale Assisted Living facility.



She was born on July 6, 1930, in Graysville, Tenn., and was a daughter of the late Paul Edgar Eckenroth and Alice Cary Walker Eckenroth.

Mrs. Harner graduated from Shenandoah Valley Academy in New Market and Columbia Union College in Takoma Park, Md. She was a member of the Reformation Lutheran Church and the Harrisonburg Seventh-day Adventist Church.

 She was a teacher for 30 years.



On June 22, 1952, she married Jack Harner, who survives.

Surviving in addition to her husband are two sons, Robert Paul Harner of McGaheysville, and William Kris Harner of Harrisonburg; two daughters, Carole Jo Harner of Harrisonburg, and Jackie Harner Shipe of McGaheysville; six grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a brother, Paul Eckenroth Jr.; and a sister, Emmagene Eckenroth Gainer.

A funeral service was conducted on Thursday, April 21, at the Reformation Lutheran Church.

Memorial donations may be made to the music department at Reformation Lutheran Church, P.O. Box 896, New Market, Va. 22844.



Arrangements were handled by Theis Funeral Chapel in New Market.



Margaret K. Jenkins


Margaret Burner Kuser Jenkins, 90, of 6964 U.S. Highway 340 N., Rileyville, Virginia, departed this life on Monday, April 25, 2016.

She was born on Oct. 23, 1925, in Rileyville to the late Frank C. Burner and Rena Abbott Burner.

Margaret retired from FMC after 30 years of service. She was a devoted member of the Rileyville Baptist Church, where she served on various committees. She also served on the committee where the new church was built in 1980. She was a wedding director for Many a Bride’s Wedding.

Margaret was married to Charles Swanson Kuser, who died on May 13, 1963, and William Ralph Jenkins, who died on Sept. 12, 2003.

Margaret is survived by one sister, Jean Beylor of Fairfax. She is also survived by a number of nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by one brother, Arnold Burner of Alexandria; and two sisters, June Richards of Luray, and Audrey Smith of Apopka, Florida.

A funeral service will be conducted at 2 p.m. on Friday, April 29, at the Rileyville Baptist Church.

Her body was taken to her home at 1 p.m. on Wednesday, April 27, where the family will receive friends at any time.

Arrangements are being handled by the Bradley Funeral Home.



Edward M. Frohlich Jr.


Edward Marlow Frohlich Jr., 82, of 20 Springview Blvd., Luray, died on Tuesday, April 26, 2016, at Winchester Medical Center.

He was born on Sept. 19, 1933, in Washington, D.C., and was a son of the late Edward Marlow Frohlich and Bessie Cecelia Hardesty Frohlich.

Mr. Frohlich was a veteran of the United States Navy. He retired in 1993 as a printer for Haines Lithographic, with 20 years of service. He was a member of Our Lady of the Valley Catholic Church in Luray and a 45-year member of the Graphic Communications International Union (GCIU).

On Jan. 5, 1957, he married Mary Jane Greer Frohlich, who survives.

Surviving in addition to his wife are a daughter, Dawn Frohlich of Waldorf, Md.; four sons, Stephen Frohlich of Stephens City, John F. Frohlich of Staunton, Mark Edward Frohlich of Palm Bay, Fla., and James Frohlich of Golden Beach, Md.; a sister, Louise Fleshman of Fredericksburg, Ohio; four grandchildren, Jeremy, Stacey, Megan and Makayla; and a great-grandson, Jaylin.

Mass will be conducted at 10 a.m. on Saturday, April 30, at Our Lady of the Valley Catholic Church by the Rev. Edward Horkan. Burial will be in Resurrection Cemetery in Clinton, Md.

The family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m. on Friday, April 29, at the Bradley Funeral Home.
