Mazie M. Cave


Mazie Mae Cave, 91, of Charlottesville, died on Sunday, July 9, 2017, at the home of her daughter.

She was born on July 4, 1926, in Shenandoah and was a daughter of the late Solie Frank Grimsley and Eula Pearl Grimsley.

Mrs. Cave attended Page County schools and was a longtime member of the Mount View Baptist Church in Charlottesville.

Her husband, Davis Allen Cave, preceded her in death.

She is survived by a daughter, Elaine Agee of Charlottesville; two grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by two sisters, Lorraine Dovel and Grace Beaghan; and three brothers Roy, David and Kemper Grimsley.

A funeral service was conducted on Thursday, July 13, at the Mount View Baptist Church in Charlottesville by the Rev. David Hallingshead. Burial was in the Mount Lebanon Congregational Church Cemetery in Shenandoah.

Arrangements were handled by the Hill and Wood Funeral Home in Charlottesville.



Merita S. Meadows


Merita Sue Hinegardner Meadows, 76, of Elkton, died on Thursday, July 13, 2017, at her home.

She was born on June 8, 1941, in Rockingham County and was a daughter of the late Carroll Dewitt Hinegardner and Lena Pearl Stepp Hinegardner.



Mrs. Meadows was an active member at the Elkton Seventh-day Adventist Church, where she served on the social committee and was the former treasurer for many years. She was an avid gardener.

On Sept. 22, 1960, she married Frank Meadows, who survives.



Surviving in addition to her husband are four sons, Timothy, David and Anthony Meadows, all of Elkton, and Christopher Meadows of Luray; three brothers, Carroll G. Hine-gardner of Mount Crawford, Carl E. Hinegardner of Mount Sidney, and Charles R. Hinegardner of New Market; six grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.

 She was preceded in death by a brother, Clayton B. Hinegardner.



A funeral service was conducted on Monday, July 17, at the Elkton Seventh-day Adventist Church by Pastor Roger Mace and Pastor Richard Coston. Burial was in Eastlawn Memorial Gardens.

Carla A. Edwards 




Carla Ann Edwards, 53, of Luray, died on Thursday, July 13, 2017, at MontVue Nursing Home.



She was born on April 12, 1964, in Alexandria and was a daughter of Jerry Alton Harris of Luray and the late Linda Mae Wood Harris.

Surviving in addition to her father are a son, Victor Allen Atwood of Bentonville; a daughter, Jenny Nicole Broyles of Luray; a brother, Jerry A. Harris Jr. of Idaho; and one grandson, Sebastian Broyles of Luray.

Cremation was handled by Harrisonburg Cremation Service, with arrangements by the Bradley Funeral Home in Luray. (Paid Obituary)



Margaret E. Roberts


Margaret Elizabeth Rickert Roberts, 80, of Luray, Va., passed away Saturday, July 15, 2017, in Manassas, Va. Friends and family knew her as Betty.

She was born on October 13, 1936, in Washington, D.C., and was a daughter of the late Howard Clarence Rickert and Margaret Elizabeth Thomas Rickert.

Mrs. Roberts worked at Warrenton Middle School as an administrative assistant/bookkeeper for more than 33 years.

Betty enjoyed gardening, cooking and spending time with her grandchildren.

On February 7, 1980, she married Andrew Buchanan Roberts, who preceded her in death on February 18, 2007.

She is survived by three children, daughter Diann Cram and other half Larry Miller of Basye, Va., son David Cram and wife Sharon of Mount Savage, Md., and daughter Donna Meyers and husband Glenn of Manassas, Va.; a sister, Helen Rickert of Maryland; five grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.

A memorial service will be held on Saturday, July 22, 2017, at 11 a.m. at the Bradley Funeral Home in Luray.

Roberta G. Runyon


Roberta Gibson Runyon, 63, of Front Royal, Va., passed away on Friday, July 14, 2017, in Winchester, Va.

A memorial service will be held on Thursday, July 20, at 6 p.m. at Maddox Funeral Home. The family will receive friends after the service until 8 p.m.

Mrs. Runyon was born June 28, 1954, in Bethesda, Md., daughter of the late George Gibson Titus and Janet Ramona Shipe Titus of Front Royal, Va.

She worked for many years at Apple House in Linden and was a longtime member of Shenandoah Farms Baptist Church.

Surviving along with her mother are her husband, Richard L. Runyon Sr. of Front Royal; one son, Richard L. Runyon Jr. of Front Royal; two siblings, George H. Titus and Mary Donovan, both of Front Royal; and a nephew, Brett A. Miller of Middletown, Va.
