Linda Jo Halsey

Linda Jo Halsey, 66, of Warrenton, died on Wednesday, Oct. 11, 2017.

Ms. Halsey was born on June 2, 1951, in Washington, D.C., and was a daughter of the late Betty Jo Halsey West and was raised by the late Ned Wilson West.

She is survived by two daughters, Carrie Halsey of Warrenton, and Jackie Lynn Layman of Manassas; two sons, Mark Edward Halsey of Front Royal, and Kenneth Halsey of Warrenton; a sister, Tammy Webb of North Carolina; a brother, John Wilson West of Manassas; 15 grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.

A funeral service was conducted on Sunday, Oct. 15, at the Bradley Funeral Home. Burial was in the Beahm’s Chapel Cemetery.

MaryAnn Rutt

MaryAnn Rutt, 88, a resident of Bridgewater Retirement Community, died on Wednesday, Oct. 11, 2017.

She was born on July 10, 1929, in Deer River, Minn., and was a daughter of the late Patrick James Meyers and Mary Moulton Meyers.

Mrs. Rutt was a member of the Virginia Federation of Republican Women (VFRW).

On Sept. 15, 1951, she married Herbert P. Rutt, who died on Aug. 14, 2003.

She is survived by three sons, James Patrick Rutt and wife Celia of McDowell, John Rutt and wife Tina of Luray, and Robert Paul Rutt and wife Tirri of Houston, Texas; three sisters, Lois Murphy of Michigan, and Patsy Campbell and Kaye Bell Ikola, both of Minnesota; three grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by three brothers, Milton, Dean and Patrick Meyers; and two sisters, Josephine Bevins and Joan Sorley.

A memorial service was conducted on Tuesday, Oct. 17, at Bridgewater Retirement Community. She was interred with her husband at Quantico National Cemetery in Triangle.

Jean R. Comer

Jean Ramsey Comer, age 83, passed away Saturday, October 14, 2017, in Morgantown, W.Va., at Ruby Memorial Hospital.

Jean was born in Stanton, Va., on February 14, 1934, a daughter of the late Robert and Artie Ramsey.

Jean worked as a bookkeeper for General Glass for many years. She was also an active member of the Harner Chapel Church. She enjoyed being a member of the Miracle Music Community Service organ group. Jean was a loving wife, mother and grandmother.

Jean is survived by her husband, Charles E. Comer; a son, Michael Comer and wife Carla of Fairmont, W.Va.; a brother, Robert Ramsey II and wife Helen of Winchester, Va.; two grandchildren, Bryen Comer and Braden Comer; and two nephews, Robby and Jeff Ramsey and their families.

In addition to her parents, Jean was preceded in death by her brother, Larry Ramsey.

The family would like to extend their heartfelt thanks to the nursing staff at Ruby Memorial Hospital and all Jean’s friends who helped take care of her in her time of need.

In honoring Jean’s wishes, McCulla Funeral Home has provided cremation services.

A fellowship gathering was held at Harner Chapel, 100 Lucky Lane, Morgantown, W.Va. on Wednesday, October 18, 2017, from 1-2 p.m., followed by a memorial service.

There will be a service at Beahm’s Chapel Cemetery, 211 Lee Highway Luray, Va. 22835 on Saturday, October 21, at 11 a.m., where she will be laid to rest following the memorial service.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests, that contributions be made in Jean’s memory to Harner Chapel, 100 Lucky Lane Morgantown, W.Va. 26501.
