Brandi N. Cook

Brandi Nicole Cook, 23, of Front Royal, passed away suddenly on Monday, Feb. 29, 2016 in Front Royal.

A funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, March 5, at Maddox Funeral Home, with Sammy Campbell officiating. Interment will follow in the Prospect Hill Cemetery.

Brandi was born on July 9, 1992, in Front Royal, daughter of Gertrudis Sanchez of Mexico and Tammy T. Cook of Front Royal.

She was formerly employed with Martinís Grocery Store in Front Royal and recently worked for El Maguey Mexican Restaurant in Front Royal.

Brandi was a graduate of Skyline High School Class of 2010.

She loved life and had many friends. She will be long remembered for her laughter and beautiful smile. She will be greatly missed by her family and many friends.

Surviving with her father and mother are her stepdad Ronnie Mitchell of Front Royal; sister Olivia Cook of Front Royal; brother Travis Cook of Front Royal; maternal grandmother Joyce Ann Brown Cook of Front Royal; seven nieces; two nephews; many aunts, and uncles; and numerous cousins.

Pallbearers will be Luis Patricio, Daniel Chavez, Aurelio Lopez, Jacob Dodson, Johnny Shirley, and Michael Jenkins.

Honorary pallbearers will be Ronnie Dodson and Brad Marcey.

The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday, March 4, at the funeral home.

Deborah C. Gallagher

Deborah Collins Gallagher, 57, of Front Royal, passed away on Sunday, Feb. 28, 2016, at Winchester Medical Center.

A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, March 4, at Maddox Funeral Home. Burial will follow in Bennettís Chapel Cemetery.

Mrs. Gallagher was born March 9, 1958, in Arlington, daughter of Robert W. Collins and Judy Mae Metz Collins of Front Royal. She worked as a supervisor at Wal-Mart in Front Royal.

Surviving along with her parents are her husband Christopher Gallagher; two children, Christopher Gallagher II and Gabrielle Gallagher both of Front Royal; five sisters, Christine Carper, Brenda Way, Alma May, Penny Fitzgerald, and Sheila Sims; two brothers Robert W. Collins Jr. and Jerry Collins; and one grandchild, Connor Gallagher.

Pallbearers will be Scott Johnson, Stephen Collins, Jack Way, Drew Gallagher, Carey Saffelle, John Edgar Carper III.

The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home.

Joe C. Lohr

Joe Carl Lohr, 90, of Carolina Shores, N.C., died Sunday, Feb.28, 2016, at Grand Strand Hospital in Myrtle Beach, S.C.

Mr. Lohr was born in 1925, in Wheeling, W.Va., son of the late Mabel G. (Lohr) Riedel.

Joe graduated from Wheeling High School in May 1944, where he participated with the varsity football and track teams. Joe later served in the Army during World War II, serving with the 99th Infantry Division, First Army. He served in France, Belgium, and Germany and was awarded many various Army service awards including The Bronze Star.

Mr. Lohr then graduated from Marietta College in Ohio with a B.S. in business administration. He later attended Newark College of Engineering, Upsala College and ultimately received a masterís degree from Stevens Institute of Technology.

He was employed as a production supervisor industrial engineer and quality insurance engineer for various companies until his retirement from Comsat in 1994. Joe spent many years dedicated to many civic organizations.

Mr. Lohr was also a member of the Frist Presbyterian Church in Winchester as well as Carolina Shores, N.C.

Joe was married to Nancy June Bender on Dec. 2, 1950. Nancy died on April 24, 1983. He later married Brenda Coffman on April 30, 1984, in Winchester.

Surviving with his wife are his daughters, Susan E. Lohr and her husband Floyd Whorton and Rebecca L. Jenkins both of Stephens City; sons, Matthew J. Lohr of Williamsburg, Pete Woods and his wife, Sharon, of Woodbridge; 11 grandchildren; 3 great grandchildren with two on the way; and two brothers, Ronald Riedel of Wheeling and Craig Riedel of Parkersburg, W.Va..

His daughter, Tammy Coffman and sister, Evelyn Riedel, preceded him in death.

The family will receive friends from 2 to 4 p.m. Sunday, March 6, at Omps Funeral Home, Amherst Chapel, Winchester.

A funeral service will be conducted at 11 a.m. Monday at Omps Funeral Home, Amherst Chapel, with Shelia Brown officiating. Interment will be in Mount Hebron Cemetery, Winchester. Military Honors will be afforded by V.F.W. Post 2123. The family will honor Joe with a memorial service at a later date in North Carolina.

Michael T. Longerbeam

Michael Travis ìOnionî Longerbeam, 49, of Winchester, died Sunday, Feb. 28, 2016, in the Winchester Medical Center.

Mr. Longerbeam was born June 21, 1966, in Winchester, son of Beverly ìBuckyî Eugene Longerbeam and Norma Gale Longerbeam.

Surviving with his mother, of Stephenson, are his wife Cynthia Hinkle Longerbeam; three daughters, Devon Longerbeam DeCarlo and Morgan Longerbeam, both of Winchester, and Dana Lamb of Front Royal; stepdaughter, Marina Hinkle of Winchester; stepson, Chance Hinkle of Winchester; brother Rocky Longerbeam of Stephenson; sister Janet Longerbeam Chapman of Winchester; and three grandchildren.

A memorial service will be held at 7 p.m. today at Enders & Shirley Funeral Home Chapel, Berryville, with Mr. R. K. Shirley III officiating. Burial will be private.

The family will receive friends from 5 to 7 p.m. prior to the service at the funeral home.

Charlotte M. Perkinson

Charlotte M. Perkinson, 83, died Saturday, Feb. 27, 2016, at a local nursing home.

She was born Nov. 18, 1932, in Elba, N.Y., the daughter of Floyd F. and Lottie J. Downs Sr.

Charlotte married Martin Francis Perkinson on Oct. 18, 1979, in Hagerstown, Md. Her ex-husband, Percy Lee Hale preceded her in death.

Along with her husband, Martin, she is survived by a daughter, Pamela Hale Fletcher and her husband, Timothy of Middletown; four brothers, Irving C. Downs of Albion, N.Y., Clarence J. Downs of Elba, Clayton H. Downs of Albion and Kenneth L. Downs of Hebron, Ky.; four sisters, Shirley A. Pahuta of Elba, Arlene M. Frasier of Seabring, Fla., Lois L. Golisano of Port Richey, Fla., and Bonnie S. King Dolhr of Elba and two grandchildren, Trudy Marie Fletcher and Corey Michael Fletcher.

She was preceded in deathby three brothers, Floyd Downs Sr., Robert M. Downs and Elwood E. Downs.

The family is abiding by Charlotteís wishes for private services.

Betty L. Strickland

Betty L. Strickland, 80, of Front Royal, passed away on Thursday, Feb. 25, 2016.

A memorial service was held Sunday, Feb. 28, at Maddox Funeral Home, conducted by Sammy Campbell.

Mrs. Strickland was born March 7, 1935, in Borger, Texas, daughter of the late William Roy Jack and Pansy Opal Campbell Jack.

She was preceded in death by her husband French O. Strickland; two brothers, Jerry W. Jack and Geary L. Jack; and two great-grandchildren, Elijah E. Smith and Makaelynn L. Manuel.

Surviving are two daughters, Patsy L. Buck and her husband Bill of Manassas and Valerie Raistrick and her husband Roger of Front Royal; one brother, Bill Jack of Clendenin, W.Va.; five grandchildren, Chris Barr and wife Nicole of Orange County, Erika Raistrick of Front Royal, Brandi Smith and husband Stephen of Front Royal, Ashley Raistrick Manuel and husband Travis of Front Royal and Stephanie Buck of Manassas; and five great-grandchildren, Zachary Barr, Emily Barr, Caleb Smith, Malerie Manuel and Abigail Smith.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests that memorial contributions be made to a charity of your choice.
