Carrie D. Baker

Carrie DeHaven Baker, 90, of Front Royal, passed away Monday, May 9, 2016, at Hilltop House, Winchester.

Graveside funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. today in Mount Hebron Cemetery, Winchester.

Mrs. Baker was born in White Post on July 25, 1925, to Ross DeHaven and Julia Clark DeHaven.

She was the widow of Quinton Baker.

She retired from Winchester Memorial Hospital as a registered nurse and was a member of the Front Royal United Methodist Church.

Surviving Mrs. Baker is her son, Samuel Baker and his wife Ann of Statesville, Ga.; her sister, Ella Holtzman of Winchester; her grandchildren, Zeb Baker of Oxford, Ohio, Elizabeth Ann Codega and her husband John and Josie Baker, of Augusta, Ga.; and her great-grandson, James Codega.

Mrs. Baker was also preceded in death by her parents and her other siblings, Eugene DeHaven, Carl DeHaven, Herbert DeHaven, Guy Dehaven, Virginia Cook and Daisy Davis.

Linda Hartman

Linda Hartman, 72, of Front Royal, died Tuesday, May 3, 2016, at Warren Memorial Hospital.

A graveside service was held Monday, May 9, at Panorama Memorial Gardens, conducted by the Rev. Alan B. Gray.

Mrs. Hartman was born June 17, 1943, in Front Royal, daughter of Edward Lee Fox and Hattie Mae Molden Fox.

She was the wife of the late Paul David Hartman Sr.

Surviving are two sons, Paul David Hartman Jr. and wife Linda of Front Royal and Bruce Elliott Hartman and wife Janet of Hedgesville, W.Va.; sister Goldie Hawkins and husband Pete of Culpeper; six grandchildren, Jimmy Thompson, Teresa Hartman, Matthew Hartman, Christina Gomez, Kimberly Hartman, and Felicia Hartman; three great-grandchildren Mark Thompson, Mackenzie Thompson, and Carlos Gomez; and two nephews Eddie Jenkins and Freddie Jenkins.

Elbert A. Henry

Elbert "Abe" Allen Henry, 80, passed away May 1, 2016, at Sentara Hospice House, Virginia Beach.

He moved to Virginia Beach in 2013 to live with his daughter and her husband. He lived in Front Royal for 77 years.

After graduating from Warren County High School, he served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War and was stationed in France.

He was in several service organizations over the years, but enjoyed his membership in the American Legion Post 53 until his death, insisting on remaining a member even after his move.

His last employer was Randolph-Macon Academy.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Frances Figgins Henry; his father, Ollie Davis ìMonkî Henry; and his mother, Virgie Ella Figgins Henry.

He leaves behind his daughter, Kathy Corley and her husband, Joseph, of Virginia Beach; two stepdaughters, Doris R. Rector and husband Robert, of Vero Beach, Fla., and Mary R. Henry and husband James, of Middletown; two grandchildren, three great-grandchildren; four stepgrandchildren; five stepgreat-grandsons; and one brother, Leon D. Henry and his wife Nancy, of Winchester, their two children and families.

There also remains a large extended family and many friends.

Burial was held Friday, May 6, in the Shenandoah Memorial Park.

Juanita Y. Lee

Juanita Elizabeth Young Lee, 93, of Front Royal, died on May 4, 2016, at Heritage Hall Health Care in Front Royal.

She was born on Aug. 2, 1922, in Washington, D.C., the daughter of Thomas Dewey Young and Anna Ruth Henson Harris.

She graduated from Eastern High School in Washington, D.C.

Mrs. Lee was a former member of the Good Shepard Lutheran Church in Front Royal.

She worked at the Pentagon. Later, she and her husband opened and owned the Donut Dinette in Front Royal.

She was married on May 3, 1941, to Jack William Lee Sr. who preceded her in death June 11, 1988.

Mrs. Lee is survived by two sons, Jack William Lee Jr. and wife Debbie of Stephens City, Terence Michael Lee and wife Nancy of Front Royal; grandchildren Christopher and wife Jacky of Stephens City, Jody and wife Dena of Front Royal, Joseph and wife Julie of Columbia, Md., Thomas of Washington, D.C., and Catherine of Front Royal; great-grandchildren Elizabeth, Abegail, Tyler and Charlotte.

A funeral service was held Wednesday, May 11, at Maddox Funeral Home, with Sammy Campbell presiding. Burial followed at Mount Hebron Cemetery in Winchester.

Pall bearers were Christopher Lee, Jody Lee, Joseph Lee and Thomas Lee.
