Myrtle E. Brandon

Myrtle E. Brandon, 92, of Springfield, passed away on Sunday, June 12, 2016, at Loving Arms of Front Royal.

She was born on Dec. 22, 1923, in Climax, Minn., to the late Hans and Olga Berg.

Mrs. Brandon was a member of Fort Myer Chapel, Arlington, and of Prince of Peace Lutheran Church, Springfield.

Survivors include her husband of 73 years, Frank T. Brandon, 96, of Springfield; daughter, Rachel J. Sears of Fairfax; two sons, Barry F. Brandon (Lorraine) of Bentonville and David D. Brandon (Claire) of Front Royal; brother, Russell Berg (Doreen) of Mauston, Wis.; four grandchildren, Tiffany, Jennifer, Joshua and Zachary; three great grandchildren, Brooke, Keihle and Jillian and many nieces, nephews and cousins.

The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Monday, June 20, at Maddox Funeral Home, 105 W. Main St. Services will take place at a later date at Arlington National Cemetery.

Giles E. Campbell Jr.

Giles Elwood Campbell Jr., 53, of Front Royal, died Wednesday, June 8, 2016, in Front Royal.

A funeral service will be held at 2:30 p.m. today at Maddox Funeral Home, 105 W. Main St., conducted by Samuel Campbell. Burial will follow in Bennettís Chapel Cemetery.

"Junior" Campbell was born Nov. 24, 1962, in Warren County, son of Elsie Barkley Yowell of Front Royal and Giles Elwood Campbell Sr. of Fredericksburg.

Surviving with his parents are four daughters, Samantha, Tiffany, Kate and Elsie Campbell; a sister, Debra Elliott of Remington; a brother, Allan Campbell of Bealeton; and six grandchildren.

The family will receive friends from 1:30 to 2:30 p.m. today at the funeral home.

Judith A. Hemingway

Judith Ann Hemingway, 64, of Front Royal, died Wednesday, June 8, 2016 at Winchester Medical Center.

A memorial service will be held at 3 p.m. Saturday, June 18, at Emmanuel Episcopal Church in Delaplane, conducted by the Rev. Amanda Knouse. Inurnment will be held at a later date.

Mrs. Hemingway was born Dec. 30, 1951, in South Bend, Ind., daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. Daniel Walker. She worked as a merchandiser for Advantage Sales and Marketing. Mrs. Hemingway was a member of Emmanuel Episcopal Church and was a very active volunteer for various organizations, including the Holocaust Museum, Native American Museum at the Smithsonian, and Second Chance Thirft Store among others.

Surviving are her husband Terry Joseph Hemingway of Front Royal; two sisters Jeanne Brooks and Linda Walker; and two stepsons Adam Hemingway and Joel Hemingway.

Lewis E. Huffer Jr.

Lewis Edward "Eddie" Huffer Jr., 54, of Mount Solon, passed away Thursday, June 9, 2016, at Augusta Health, Fishersville.

He was born in Front Royal on Sept. 8, 1961, and was a son of Lewis Edward Huffer Sr. of Mount Solon, and the late Ardell Tacey (Edwards) Huffer.

Ed owned and operated his own landscaping company. He was a big Dallas Cowboy fan, loved talking to his dad about wrestling, and was an avid camper and sports fan (playing football and baseball in high school and softball as an adult.) Eddie loved his family and friends and enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren.

He was united in marriage on May 9, 2014, to Deborah Anne (Dooley) Huffer, who survives.

Surviving in addition to his wife and father are three daughters, Erica Payne, of Bristow, Ashley Scatina and Brittney Huffer, both of The Plains; a son, Brandon Huffer of Hagerstown, Md.; two sisters, Donna Kennedy and Valerie Gray, both of Mount Solon; a stepdaughter, Kristal Miller of Manassas; three stepsons, Sean Miller of Raleigh, N.C., Daniel Miller, of Charleston, S.C., and Bryan Miller of Catlett. He is also survived by seven grandchildren, two stepgrandchildren, nieces and nephews.

A memorial service will be at 2 p.m. Saturday, June 18, 2016, at 2 p.m. at Marshall Baptist Church in Marshall, with the Paul Mercer Jr. officiating.

Dan S. Price Jr.

Dan S. Price Jr., 72, of Rixeyville, passed away on Thursday, June 9, 2016, at his home surrounded by his family.

Dan was born Jan. 9, 1944, to the late Dan S. Price Sr. and Laura Price Ross.

He is survived by his wife of 51 years, Gail DeHaven Price; his daughters, Jo Lea Gilmore (Kenneth) of Rixeyville and Shannon Price of Culpeper, and his pride and joy, granddaughter Stevie Lee Gilmore.

Dan was preceded in death by his most loving, faithful and devoted shadow, his dog Itsy.

Dan was a veteran of the U.S. Air Force, a blacksmith-farrier, having worked at the Charles Town Races for 30 years, an employee of General Motors and retired a jet engine mechanic for United Airlines.

Dan fought a long hard and very painful battle with Parkinsonís disease. He said he was a prisoner in his own body and was ready to be released.

He wanted to thank his very special friend and chosen brother Jay Marshall for all their years together and Ray Riley for watching the races, football and baseball with him.

So many thanks go to Hospice of the Piedmont for their wonderful care in his final days.

A very special thank you to his daughter and son-in-law, Jo Lea and Kenneth Gilmore, for their unwavering devotion in the care of their father.

A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. today at Maddox Funeral Home, 105 W. Main St., with The Rev. William Queen Jr. of Trinity Episcopal Church officiating.

Amee L. Torres

Amee Lynn Torres, 34, of Front Royal, entered her new life on June 4, 2016.

A celebration of Ameeís life will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday, June 18, at Maddox Funeral Home, Front Royal, conducted by Sammy Campbell. Inurnment will be private.

Amee was born on Oct. 3, 1981, in Washington, D.C., daughter of Colleen R. Shilcosky Torres of Portage, Pa., and Richard G. Torres of Somerset, N.J. She was a loving mother, daughter and friend. She will be deeply and sorely missed by all whose lives she touched.

Surviving with her parents are four children, Jasmin, Joselynn, Jaylen, and Caden; one brother, Jose E. Perdelia-Torres of State College, Pa.; and numerous relatives and friends.

Amee was preceded in death by her grandparents.

The family will receive friends from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home.
