Elizabeth F. Curry

Elizabeth Ann Fincham Curry, 72, of Front Royal, VA, died on Thursday, August 11, 2016 at Warren Memorial Hospital.

A graveside service will be held on Tuesday, August 16, at 2:00 p.m. at Panorama Memorial Gardens.

Mrs. Curry was born September 13, 1943 in Flint Hill, VA, daughter of the late Woodrow W. Fincham, Sr. and Bessie Mae Payne Fincham.

Surviving are her loving husband Garfield Curry; one brother Robert Fincham of Front Royal. She was preceded in death by one brother Woodrow W. Fincham, Jr.

Arrangements are by Maddox Funeral Home, Inc. in Front Royal, VA.

Reuben T. Fahnestock

Reuben Talmage Fahnestock, 96, of Luray, died on Wednesday, Aug. 3, 2016, at Timberview Crossing Assisted Living.

He was born on Sept. 15, 1919, in Winchester.

Mr. Fahnestock worked in the maintenance department for Luray Caverns Corp. for 50 years. He was a member of the Mount Zion Church of the Brethren.

On March 20, 1948, he married Lola Mae Cave Fahnestock, who died on Nov. 10, 2002.

He is survived by a brother, David Fahnestock of Winchester; three sisters, Mary F. Lowery and Dorothy Carper, both of Winchester, and Betty F. Hardesty of Front Royal; and his caregiver, Amy Ristola of Luray. He was preceded in death by five brothers, Daniel, Randolph, Paul, Robert and Ray Fahnestock; and three sisters, Frances Luttrell, Margaret Childs and Isabella Yeakley.

A funeral service was conducted on Saturday, Aug. 6, at the Mount Zion Church of the Brethren by Jack Haddock. Burial was in the Mount Zion Cemetery in Luray.

Angus E. Mauck

Angus E. "Teeny" Mauck, 92, passed away on Monday, August 15, 2016, at home along the beautiful Shenandoah River in Bentonville.

A funeral service will be held on Thursday, August 18, at 11:00 a.m. at Maddox Funeral Home with Sammy Campbell, officiating. Interment will follow in the Prospect Hill Cemetery.

Teeny was born on December 23, 1923, in Bentonville, VA, the only son of Estern K. and Elva Williams Mauck.

Teeny married his childhood sweetheart Frances Cullers on November 2, 1974. She preceded him in death on August 23, 2014.

Teeny was a lifelong farmer, taking over the responsibilities of the family farm at an early age due to the death of his father. He worked for Alton Mathews until his retirement. He often said he like to know how many miles he had walked while farming.

Teeny is survived by his sisters Eloise Mauck and Beatrice Shofner both of Front Royal; brother-in-law Vernon Cullers of Bentonville; nephew Steven Cullers and wife Cheryl with whom he resided; great-nephew David Cullers; great-niece Emily Cullers Walton and husband Robbie; great-great-nephews Liam and Nolan Walton whom he loved greatly and all reside in Bentonville.

Teeny was preceded in death by his parents; his wife; his sister Geraldine Mauck Pomeroy; brother-in-law Lyle Pomeroy; and sister-in-law Louise Cullers.

Pallbearers will be David L. Cullers, Robbie Walton, Bryan Chrisman, David Marchi, Robert Hupman, Bernie Miller

Honorary pallbearers will be Ira Fristoe, Norman Alger, Liam G. Walton, Nolan D. Walton, Charlotte Mauck, Anne Guy, Willie Leggett, Jacqueline Leggett, and Roger Chrisman.

The family will receive friends on Thursday from 10:00 a.m. until 11:00 a.m. at the funeral home.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Blue Ridge Hospice, 333 West Cork Street, Winchester, VA 22601.

Arrangements are being handled by Maddox Funeral Home, Front Royal, VA.

Shannon C. Reil

Shannon Christopher Reil ìChrisî 49 years old, of Front Royal, Virginia passed away on Friday, August 12, 2016 at Berkley Springs Medical Center in Martinsburg, West Virginia.

A memorial service will be held on Thursday, August 18, 2016 at Riverton United Methodist Church at 2:00 PM.

He was born in Front Royal to Guy Thomas ìTomî and Edie Ruffner Reil of Front Royal.

Shannon was a graduate of Warren County High School class of 1985 and a Navy Veteran. He was currently employed by Newborn Enterprises of Pennsylvania.

Surviving along with his parents are his sister Kelly Reil Auchmoody, brother-in-law Blake Auchmoody, his nephew Weston ìWesî Auchmoody all of Richmond and Aunts and Uncles, Ann Ruffner Cooper, Fay Ruffner Miller (Glen), Marie Reil Knox, Larry Russell Reil as well as numerous cousins and friends.

Shannon will be remembered as a loving son and brother and a true friend, always willing to lend a helping hand to others.

His remains will be interred at Arlington National Cemetery at a later date.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Riverton United Methodist Church or The American Heart Association.

Patrick R. Ryan

Patrick Robert Ryan, 64, of Rockland, Virginia caught a shooting star on Thursday, August 11, 2016 to go on to the next great adventure.

Pat is survived by his wife Mary Powers Ryan, his mother Louise Ryan, his sister Cathy Ryan and her husband Entezam Sahovic, his brother-in-law Bill Powers and his wife Mary Powers, his niece Becky Powers, his niece Amanda Powers Botero and her husband Nick Botero, plus a family of cousins, cousins-in-law, and friends.

Pat was a gentle man with a pure heart, a kind spirit, and an ability to create anything he put his mind to, be it a rhymed verse, an ink sketch, or a kitchen cabinet. With scraps of metal, he created playful temporary sculptures; with lighting, he created soothing spaces for living. He was a true Gemini; while acutely aware of lifeís paradoxes and sorrows, he was always able to laugh, make a pun and bring a smile to those around him.

The family will receive friends on Thursday from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at Maddox Funeral Home in Front Royal. A private funeral service will be held at the Rockland Cemetery and will be private. Keith P. Sanker

Keith Patrick Sanker, 19, of Front Royal, VA, passed away on August 10, 2016 in Warren County, VA.

A funeral service will be held on Saturday, August 20, at 11:00 a.m. at the Skyline High School Gymnasium with Sammy Campbell officiating. Burial will follow in Bennettís Chapel Cemetery. A reception will follow the burial at the Front Royal Fire Hall.

Keith was born March 27, 1997 in Warrenton, VA son of Richard Lee Sanker , Sr. of Front Royal and Jennifer Carol Kroll Marshall of Front Royal. He was a 2016 graduate of Skyline High School where he exceled in athletics and was chosen as team captain for football and wrestling and earned Defensive Player of the Year. Keith also was an active helper and volunteer for community events, especially with the Elks Lodge in Front Royal assisting veterans.

Surviving along with his parents are his maternal grandparents Tom and Linda Kroll of Front Royal; great-grandmother Mammie Shepherd; step-father John Wesley Marshall, Jr. of Front Royal; step-grandmother Dorothy Elaine Marshall of Warrenton; one sister Rachel Annmarie Sanker of Front Royal; and three brothers Richard Lee Sanker, Jr. of Warrenton and Keejon Carlos Marshall and John Wesley Marshall, Jr. of Front Royal.

Pallbearers will be Richard Lee Sanker, Jr., Kody Kapp, Mark Kapp, Matt Keel, Heath Gilbert, Richard Yatsko, Brad Halsley and Joey Norman.

Honorary pallbearers will be the football and wrestling teams of Skyline High School.

The family will receive friends on Friday, August 19, from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Maddox Funeral Home in Front Royal, VA.
