Tyler W. Bailey


Tyler Waverly Bailey, 22, of Strasburg passed away Monday, Dec. 12, 2016, at Fauquier Hospital, Warrenton.

Mr. Bailey was born Sept. 28, 1994 in Front Royal.

He is survived by his parents, Don Waverly Bailey of Front Royal and Jamie Ruth Bolt Stonebreaker of Strasburg; his wife, Samantha Marie Moore Bailey; two sons, Levi Wayne Bailey of Front Royal and Liam Axle Bailey of Strasburg; his siblings, Kaila Bolt, Austin Stonebreaker and Dalton Stonebreaker and Ashlynn Bailey, all of Strasburg; Hunter Bailey and Alexis Bailey, both of Winchester; his stepfather, Robert "Bobby" Stonebreaker of Strasburg; his stepmother, Michelle Henry of Strasburg; stepbrother Robert Henry of Strasburg; stepsister Shelby Henry of Strasburg; grandparents, Waverly and Catherine Bailey of Front Royal, Lorraine and Gary Bolt of Front Royal and Melodie Williams of Strasburg; his great-grandmother, Dorothy Jones of Front Royal; and many uncles, aunts and cousins.

A funeral service was conducted Monday, Dec. 19, at Stover Memorial Chapel, Strasburg with Pastor Randy Hayes officiating. Burial followed in Panorama Memorial Gardens, Waterlick.



Eva B. Broy


Eva Betty Jean Broy, 80, of Front Royal, originally from Manassas, died Sunday, Dec. 25, 2016 in Heritage Hall Nursing Home, Front Royal.

Mrs. Broy was born June 19, 1936 in Martinsburg, W.Va., the daughter of Roy Leight and Verna Robinson Leight.

She married Ramey Broy on Sept. 1, 1954, in Hagerstown, Md. Mr. Broy died Aug. 9, 1977. Surviving are her daughter, Patricia Boelman of Manassas; son, Terry Broy of Culpeper; two sisters, Verna McDonald and Nancy Malick, both of Winchester; brother, Donald Leight; six grandchildren and one great-grandchild.

Her parents; husband; son, Michael Broy; five brothers, Junior Leight, Forest Leight, Kenneth Leight, David Leight and Robert Leight; and sister, Evelyn Donaldson, all preceded her in death.

The family will receive friends from 10 to 11 a.m. Friday, Dec. 30, with a funeral service to follow at 11 a.m. at Enders & Shirley Funeral Home Chapel, Berryville.

Burial will follow in Green Hill Cemetery, Berryville.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Heritage Hall Activities Fund, 400 W. Strasburg Road, Front Royal, VA 22630.



Sarah L. Hammond


Sarah Louise Hammond, 87, of Strasburg, passed away Saturday, Dec. 17, 2016 at Heritage Hall Nursing Home, Front Royal.

Mrs. Hammond was born Oct. 3, 1929, in Strasburg, a daughter of Raymond James and Bessie Mae Middleton Palmer.

Surviving are her daughter, Karen Rae Sissler of Inwood, W.Va.; two sons, Craig B. Hammond of Middletown and Steven A. Hammond of Strasburg; four grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; sister Hazel Detamore of St. Louis; and brother Gary Rotruck of Burlington, W.Va.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Garland Bernell Hammond, and daughter Cynthia Hammond.

A funeral service was conducted Wednesday, Dec. 21, 2016 at Stover Memorial Chapel, Strasburg. Burial followed in Panorama Memorial Gardens, Waterlick.

Billy F. Martin


Billy Franklin Martin, 80, of Front Royal, passed away Sunday, Dec. 25, at Heritage Hall Nursing Home in Front Royal.

Mr. Martin was born in Leesburg on Feb. 6, 1936, a son of Clarence and Lydia Lester Martin.

Mr. Martin is survived by his sons, Tim Martin and Michael "Tony" Martin of Front Royal, and Darrell Martin of Sterling; five grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

Mr. Martin was preceded in death by his parents, Clarence and Lydia Martin; his wife, Helena Martin; and his brothers and sisters.

The family will greet friends from 6 to 8 p.m. today at Turner-Robertshaw Funeral Home, 1200 N. Shenandoah Ave.

Services will be held at 1 p.m. Friday, Dec. 30, at the funeral home, with Pastor Steve Guizar presiding. Entombment will follow in Shenandoah Memorial Park.

John W. Messick


John Wheeler Messick, 92, of Waterlick, passed away Dec. 19, 2016.

Mr. Messick was born July 29, 1924, in Warren County, son of William Messick and Tori Mitchell Messick.

Surviving are his wife of 69 years, Ann Presley Messick; daughter Barbara Sue ìSusieî Ralls and husband Eddy; and grandson Christopher Allen Miller. He was preceded in death by two sons, John William Messick and Shelby Ray Messick; a sister, Elizabeth Wilson; and a brother, Edward Messick.

A memorial service will be held at a later date at Buckton Presbyterian Church. Arrangements are being handled by Maddox Funeral Home.



Wallace C. Murden


Wallace "Wally" Clegg Murden, 70, of Woodstock, passed away Tuesday, Dec. 20, 2016, at Shenandoah Memorial Hospital in Woodstock.

He was born June 14, 1946, in Front Royal, son of Archie William and Lillie Mae Clegg Murden.

Mr. Murden is survived by his daughter, Tammy Polk of Edinburg; two sons, Chad Murden of New Market and Bryant Murden of Springfield, Ohio; and a granddaughter, Kelsey Polk.

A memorial service will be held at 7 p.m. Friday, Dec. 30, at the Dellinger Funeral Home in Woodstock with the Rev. Freddie Helsley officiating. The family will receive friends from 6 to 7 p.m., prior to the service Friday at the funeral home.

Vivian L. Triplett


Vivian Leona Triplett, 91, passed away Saturday, Dec. 24, 2016, at her home in Middletown.

Mrs. Triplett was born Oct. 16, 1925, in Madison County, the daughter of Hiram Jackson McDaniel and Mary Elizabeth Colvin McDaniel.

She was married to Renwyn Trevelle Triplett, formerly of Gore, for more than 60 years.

Mrs. Triplett was preceded in death by her parents; her husband of more than 60 years, Renwyn T. Triplett; brothers, Leo and Junior McDaniel; and son Dorian Lee Triplett.

She is survived by her sister Phyllis Naworal of Annandale; aunt Ruth Gardner of Winchester; and children, R. Dilbert Triplett, E. Dale Triplett, Vaughn R. Triplett, Gerald C. Triplett, Viveca Triplett Patrick and Timothy T. Triplett; various nieces and nephews; 28 grandchildren and numerous great-grandchildren.

A funeral service was held Wednesday, Dec. 28, at Enders and Shirley Funeral Home Chapel, Stephens City. Burial followed in the Sunset Memorial Gardens, Fredericksburg.
