Ralph C. Buracker Jr.


Ralph C. Buracker Jr., 77, of Front Royal, passed away Friday, Jan. 27, 2017.

Mr. Buracker was born Dec. 5, 1939 in Luray, to Ralph Cleveland Buracker Sr. and Gladys Marie Price Buracker.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother Gary Buracker.

Survivors include his wife, Shelby J. Buracker; two daughters, Shelby Theresa Henry and Kimberly R. Lauffer, both of Front Royal; brother Ronald B. Buracker of Luray; three sisters, Nancy C. Bailey, Brenda Weakley and Karen F. Cubbage, all of Stanley; two grandchildren; one step-grandson and numerous nieces and nephews.

Funeral services were held Wednesday, Feb. 1, at Maddox Funeral Home, Front Royal, with Sammy Campbell officiating. Burial followed in the Martin Ed Alger Cemetery in Page County.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the American Heart Association, the Arthritis Foundation or to a charity of one's choice.



William L. Bynaker


William Lee ìHippieî Bynaker, 68, of Front Royal, passed away Friday, Jan. 27, 2017.

Mr. Bynaker was born June 2, 1948, in Hoods Mill, Md., to Phillip Eugene Bynaker and Barbara Williar.

He was preceded in death by his father, wife Nellie Ann Bynaker; sister Bonnie Crum and half-brother Gene Bynaker.

Survivors include his mother; daughter Carolyn Deavers; brother Henry Bynaker; five sisters, Phyllis Schill, Judy White, Ruth Stultz, Janet Bynaker and Mary Rosales and many nieces and nephews.

The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. today at Maddox Funeral Home, 105 W. Main St., Front Royal.

Graveside services will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, Feb. 3, at Prospect Hill Cemetery, with Sammy Campbell officiating.

Frances E. Carbaugh


Frances Virginia Ewing Carbaugh of Stephens City passed away Jan. 27, 2017, while residing at Lynn Care Center, Front Royal.

Frances was born in July of 1924 in Stephens City to Hazel G. Ewing and Frank Edward Ewing.

Frances married Robert Eugene Carbaugh in Winchester on Sept. 5, 1953.

Frances is survived by her husband; son Larry Alan Carbaugh of Stephens City and two grandsons. She also is also survived by five sisters and brothers: Thomas Ewing of Woodbury, Minn., Ray Ewing of Winchester, Betty York of Winchester, Janet Schaumburg of Greenville, S.C., and Donald Ewing of Howard, S.D.

She was preceded in death by her parents and her brother, Arthur Lee Ewing.

The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. today at Omps Funeral Home on Amherst Street, Winchester. A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, Feb. 3, at Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church in Stephens City. The Rev. Cameron P. Keyser will officiate.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial donations to Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church, 810 Fairfax St., Stephens City, VA 22655 or to the Stephens City Fire and Rescue Company, P.O. Box 253, Stephens City, VA 22655.



Shirley T. Fletcher


Shirley Temple Fletcher was born on Jan. 3, 1936, and passed away Friday, Jan. 27, 2017.

Shirley was a resident of Front Royal at the time of her passing.

The family received friends Sunday, Jan. 29, at Royston Funeral Home, Marshall, and services were held Monday, Jan. 30.



Ruth D. Heflin


Ruth Jean Davis Heflin, 85, of Front Royal, passed away on Wednesday, Jan. 25, 2017.

Mrs. Heflin was born Nov. 13, 1931, in Morristown, N.J., a daughter of Lawrence Reinald and Kathleen Saffell Davis.

Mrs. Heflin is survived by her children, Gwen Lynn of Maine, Linda Daly of Silver Spring, Md., David Heflin of Front Royal, Eric Heflin of Winchester, Gary Heflin of Michigan, Nancy Ross Ken of Winchester, John (Karen) Heflin of Stephens City, and Joanne Heflin of New Market; 21 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents, Mrs. Heflin was preceded in death by her husband, the Rev. Herbert H. Heflin, in 2011; her brothers Lawrence Davis and Raymond Davis; and her great-granddaughter, Madison Baker.

A funeral service was conducted Monday, Jan. 30, at the Front Royal Baptist Temple, with Pastor Tim Kirchoff officiating. Burial followed in Panorama Memorial Gardens, Waterlick.

In lieu of flowers, the family request donations be made in her name to the Green Valley Baptist Church Water Project or the American Diabetes Association, 2451 Crystal Drive, Suite 900, Arlington, VA 22202.

Arrangements were handled by the Turner-Robertshaw Funeral Home, Front Royal.



June R. Martin


June Ramey Martin, 82, of Front Royal, passed away Tuesday, Jan. 31, 2017.

Mrs. Martin was born on Feb. 18, 1934, in Hume, to Lawrence Ramey and Mildred Chadwell Ramey.

She was preceded in death by parents, her husband Mortimer Marion Martin Jr. and her brother, William Lawrence Ramey.

Survivors include two sons, Timothy L. Martin and William T. Martin and two grandchildren, all of Front Royal.

Graveside services will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, Feb. 3, Prospect Hill Cemetery in Front Royal, with Pastor Jeff Barbour officiating.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the American Red Cross.

Arrangements are being handled by Maddox Funeral Home, Front Royal.



Josephine C. Price


Josephine C. Price, 84, of Linden, went to be with the Lord on Jan. 24, 2017.

Mrs. Price was preceded in death by her husband William Lon Price Jr. and son William Lon Price III.

The family will receive friends for a celebration of Josephine's life at 2 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 4, at Grace Bible Church, 4387 Free State Road, Marshall. A coffee and dessert reception will follow.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to any of the following charities that were dear to Josephine's heart: Billy Graham Evangelical Association, CareNet Crisis Pregnancy Center in Warrenton or Feed the Children.



Maj. Edwin G. Streapy


Major Edwin G. Streapy, 79, of Huntly, died Saturday, Jan. 21, 2017 at his home.

Mr. Streapy was born Aug. 12, 1937, in Pennsylvania, son of Edwin Gilbert Streapy Sr. and Margaret Braun Streapy.

Mr. Streapy was preceded in death by his parents and his wife, Betty Jane Byrd Streapy.

Surviving are two daughters, Lisa Streapy of Reston and Cathy Nowell of Front Royal; one grandson, and two great-grandsons.

A funeral service was held Thursday, Jan. 26, at Good Shepherd Evangelical Lutheran Church, conducted by the Rev. Dr. Neal R. Davidson. Burial followed in Washington Masonic Cemetery.

Arrangements were handled by Maddox Funeral Home, Front Royal.



Bettie P. Williamson


Bettie Lou Priest Williamson, 82, of Bentonville, passed away Jan. 30, 2017, at the Winchester Medical Center.

A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 4, at Maddox Funeral Home, 105 W. Main St. Burial will follow in Bentonville Cemetery.

Arrangements are being handled by Maddox Funeral Home, Front Royal.
