Mary C. Fogle

Mary Catherine Fogle, 78, of Front Royal, passed away Tuesday, Jan. 31, 2017.

Ms. Fogle was born Dec. 30, 1938, in Warren County, daughter of Clarence and Sudie Curry Smedley.

Surviving are her children Bonnie Wright of Front Royal; Richard Fogle of Front Royal, and Connie Dunlap of Winchester; two sisters, Ruth Stillwell and Betty Lillard, both of Front Royal; seven grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; and her favorite dog, "Boy."

She was preceded in death by her parents and brother Gilbert Smedley.

A funeral service was held Friday, Feb. 3, at Maddox Funeral Home, conducted by the Revs. Bobby and Diann Whetzel and Sammy Campbell. Burial followed in Prospect Hill Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Blue Ridge Hospice, 333 W. Cork St., Winchester, VA 22601.

Michela C. Gardner

Michela Coz "Kelly" Gardner, 28 of Front Royal, passed away Monday, Jan. 30, 2017.

Kelly was born Aug. 26, 1988, in Winchester, a daughter of Jeffrey Thomas and Carmela Parnelle Gardner.

Survivors include her parents, Jeffrey Thomas and Carmela Gardner of Strasburg; her siblings, Wesley Parnelle, Max Gardner and Patricia Gardner; nieces and nephews. Kelly also is survived by her fiance, Bobby Kraft.

A memorial gathering for Kelly was held Saturday, Feb. 4, at Stover Funeral Home, Strasburg.

The family suggests that expressions of sympathy be in the form of memorial contributions the Michela Coz Gardner Go-Fund-Me account to assist the family during this difficult time.

MaryEllen George

MaryEllen George, 78, of Front Royal, passed away on Monday, Jan. 23, 2017.

A memorial service will be held at 3 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 11, at Calvary Episcopal Church, 132 N. Royal Ave., Front Royal, with the Revs. Deborah Rutter and C. Allen Spicer officiating.

Mrs. George was born on Nov. 11, 1938, in Wilmington, Del., daughter of Ralph Wesley Russum II and Mary Rebecca Conegys Russum. She was married to Sidney C. George. They preceded her in death.

Surviving are one son, Ralph George of Front Royal; two daughters, Sally Ann Horner of Charlestown, W.Va., and Rebecca Ellen Mowaray of Front Royal; three sisters, Peggy Musgrave of Hamlet, N.C., Virginia Truitt of Snowhill, Md., and Harriett Cropper of Delmar, Del.; six grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.

Memorial contributions may be made to Calvary Episcopal Church, P.O. Box 62, Front Royal, Va. 22630. Please note in memo either for the Sunday School Fund or to the Altar Guild.

Virgie M. Knox

Virgie Marie (Reil) Knox, 84, of Front Royal, passed away on Thursday, Feb. 2, 2017.

Marie was born on Feb. 20, 1932 in Riverton, daughter of Robert Austin Reil and Alma Virginia (Williams) Reil.

In addition to her parents, Marie was preceded in death by her son, Michael William Knox and her brother, Robert ìBobî Reil.

Marie is survived by a daughter, Stacey Knox Athey; four grandchildren; and three siblings, Tom Reil, Larry Reil, and Wanda Boyd.

A funeral service was held Wednesday, Feb. 8, at Maddox Funeral Home, Front Royal.

Gregory A. Settle

Gregory Allen "Greg" Settle left this life to be with his Lord on Feb. 1, 2017.

He was born in Warren County on Oct. 30, 1958. He was 58 years old.

He is the son of Wilton and Louemma Settle, who reside in Front Royal.

In addition to his parents, Greg is survived by his wife Christina Cooley Settle; his son, Taylor Ballard Settle; his stepgrandson and granddaughter, and stepdaughter Lacy Fox. He also is survived by his oldest brother Rick of Stephens City, his only sister, Connie Wayland and his youngest brother, Jeff, all of Front Royal. Greg leaves behind many nieces and nephews; and his dogs Nelson and Coco.

There was a Celebration of Life service held Monday in the North Warren Fire Hall, Cedarville.

Cledith J. Stiltner

Cledith Jay Stiltner, 80, of Strasburg, passed away Friday, Feb. 3, 2017, at his home.

He was born Aug. 20, 1936, in Grundy, to Lawrence Hadden Stiltner and Maggie Mae Owens Stiltner.

Jay is survived by his wife, Eva; four children, Lisa Stiltner Nolf, Mike Stiltner, Nancy Findley-Shoemaker, and Laural Findley. In addition, Jay is survived by three siblings. Okie Brown, Birchie Smith, and Jerry Stiltner; numerous nephews and nieces; 13 beloved grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, daughter Teresa Findley; and siblings, Bea Ramey, Hassel Stiltner, Kirby Stiltner and Wayne Stiltner.

Services were held Wednesday, Feb. 8, at Stover Funeral Home, 177 N. Holliday St., Strasburg. Interment followed in Panorama Memorial Gardens, Warren County.

In lieu of flowers, the family is requesting that donations be made in his name to The Church of Jesus, 1258 Looneys Creek Road, Grundy, VA 24614.
