Earnest G. Chrisman


Earnest Grubbs Chrisman, 89, of Front Royal, passed away Tuesday, March 28, 2017.

Mr. Chrisman was born Aug. 4, 1927, son of John David and Mary Bell Mauck Chrisman of Bentonville.

He is survived by his loving wife of 61 years, Joan Ritenour Chrisman; one daughter, Dorothy "Dottie" Chrisman of Front Royal; foster son, Craig Ritenour of Bentonville; and one sister, Mattie Virginia Lentz.

Along with his parents, Mr. Chrisman was preceded in death by his brothers, William Edward Chrisman, David Franklin Chrisman, James Daniel Chrisman, Richard Paul Chrisman, John Perry Chrisman and infant brother George Newton Chrisman; and a foster sister, Lorraine Gray Clem.

A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. today at Maddox Funeral Home, conducted by the Revs. Ralph Crabill and Robert "Buzz" Moore. Burial will follow in Panorama Memorial Gardens.

Flowers will be accepted or memorial contributions may be made to the American Kidney Fund, 11921 Rockville Pike, Suite 300, Rockville, MD 20852 or to Blue Ridge Hospice, 333 W. Cork St., Winchester, VA 22601.



Larry R. Coffman


Larry Russell Coffman, 78, of Star Tannery, passed away Friday, March 17, 2017, at his home.

He was born Oct. 2, 1938, in Strasburg, a son of Winford Franklin Coffman Sr. and Elizabeth Marie Hammon Coffman.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Charlotte Faye Coffman; and his brother, Winford Franklin Coffman Jr.

He is survived by his son, Richard T. (Paula) Coffman of Star Tannery; sister Gloria Jean Himelright of Strasburg; and brother Ronald Clark Coffman of Los Angeles.

A memorial service will be held at a later sate. The family will receive friends at Richard and Paulaís home any time.

The cremation arrangements are by Dellinger Funeral Home in Woodstock.

Joan J. Elsea


Joan Jenkins Elsea, 73, of Berryville, died Monday, March 27, 2017.

Mrs. Elsea was born Feb. 20, 1944 in Front Royal, the daughter of James Jenkins and Lois Myrtle Jenkins.

Surviving with her husband of 54 years, Gary A. Elsea, are a son, Eric Elsea of Winchester; a daughter, Lori Lineberry of Floyd; a sister, Dorothy Royston of Berryville; and two grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, March 31, at Enders & Shirley Funeral Home Chapel, Berryville, with Pastor Stuart James officiating.

Burial will follow at Mountain Baptist Church Cemetery, Bluemont.

The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home.

Elizabeth M. King


Elizabeth Miller King, 57, of Linden, passed away Thursday, March 23, 2017.

Services will be private.

Mrs. King was born Jan. 14, 1960, in Washington, D.C., daughter of Mrs. Mary Ellen Smith of Front Royal and the late Richard Miller.

Surviving along with her mother are her husband, Robert King Jr. of Linden; two children, Deanna King of Front Royal and Jay King of Linden; and two sisters, Helen Foreman and Carol Wilson.

Services will be private. Arrangements are by Maddox Funeral Home Inc., Front Royal.



Fentress L. Pearson


Fentress Lanier Pearson, 77, of Front Royal, passed away Monday, March 27, 2017.

Mr. Pearson was born Aug. 4, 1939, in Front Royal, son of William E. Pearson and Virginia Robertson Pearson.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Peggy Ann Burke Pearson, in 2010.

Surviving are his daughter, Daphne Byrne of Port Richey, Fla.; one grandson; and many nieces and nephews.

A graveside service will be held at 2 p.m. Friday, March 31, in Panorama Memorial Gardens.

Arrangements are by Maddox Funeral Home Inc., Front Royal.



Ann J. Pickrell


Ann J. Pickrell, 85, of Front Royal, passed away Saturday, March 25, 2017.

Mrs. Pickrell was born in Fauquier County on Dec. 10, 1931, to Albert Berkley Jenkins and Mozelle Mae Estes Jenkins.

She was preceded in death by her infant son, Bruce Pickrell; her twin brother, David Jenkins; her brother, Paul Jenkins; and two sisters, Gertrude Morris and Marie Parks; and her parents.

Survivors include her husband of 65 years, John P. Pickrell of Front Royal; son, John Jefferson "Mickey" Pickrell of Chipley, Fla.; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Graveside funeral services were held Tuesday, March 28, in Prospect Hill Cemetery, Front Royal, with Sammy Campbell officiating.

In lieu of flowers. memorial donations may be made to the Front Royal United Methodist Church.

Arrangements are being handled by Maddox Funeral Home Inc., Front Royal.



Geraldine L. Reppert


Geraldine ìJerriî Louise Reppert, 94, of Lake Frederick, passed away Monday, March 20, 2017, at Evergreen Health and Rehabilitation Facility, Winchester.

Mrs. Reppert was born in 1922 in Altoona, Pa., the daughter of Marion R. and Craig E. Helman Sr.

Her husband, Paul Thurman Reppert, whom she married on Dec. 29, 1943, at her parentsí home in Charleroi, Pa., preceded her in death on Nov. 25, 2000.

Surviving are daughters, Barbara J. Reppert (Jane Scrip) of Estero, Fla., and Pocasset, Mass., and Carole A. Wilson (Michael) of Lake Frederick; two grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Along with her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by a grandson; and actwin brothers, Craig Ellsworth Helman Jr. and Robert Joseph Helman.

A celebration of life will be held at a later date at Pender United Methodist Church, 12401 Alder Woods Drive, Fairfax, with the Rev. Kenneth Newsome officiating. A committal service will be held at a later date in Belle Vernon Cemetery, Belle Vernon, Pa.

Memorial contributions in memory of Jerri may be made to Pender United Methodist Church, 12401 Alder Woods Drive, Fairfax, VA 22033.



Ezell Shifflett


Ezell Shifflett, 83, of Front Royal, formerly of Stafford, passed away Saturday, March 25, 2017.

She leaves behind her daughter, Tracey Leadman; two grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; siblings Ann Reed, Ivan Stewart, and Randy Potter.

Mrs. Shifflett was preceded in death by her husband, Joseph Shifflett; granddaughter Nicky Cooke; her parents, Earl and Braska; and six siblings.

A service will be held at 2 p.m. today at Covenant Funeral Service, Fredericksburg. Interment will follow in Sunset Memorial Gardens.



Thomas F. White


Thomas Fraiser White was born on Oct. 26, 1956, and passed away on Thursday, March 23, 2017.

Thomas was a resident of White Post at the time of his passing.

A funeral service will be held 2 p.m. Tuesday, April 4, at St. Bridget's Chapel in the Field, Berryville, with the Rev. Stanley J. Krempa officiating. Burial will follow in Cool Spring Natural Cemetery, Berryville.

Arrangements are by Enders and Shirley Funeral Home, Berryville.



Kay S. Williams


Kay Elaine Sinclair Williams, 73, of Strasburg, passed away Sunday, March 26, 2017.

Kay was born June 23, 1943, in Fort Scott, Kan., a daughter of Edward and Norma Sinclair.

She is survived by her husband of 49 years, Donald Williams; her three children, Jeanette Polk, Marc Williams, and Jonathan Williams; eight grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren.

The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday, March 31, at Stover Funeral Home, Strasburg. A funeral service for Mrs. Williams will be conducted at 11 a.m. Saturday, April 1, at St. Stephens Lutheran Church, 15737 Back Road, Strasburg, with the Revs. Heidi Young and James Baseler officiating. Burial will follow in St. Stephen Cemetery.
