Mildred H. Almarode


Mildred Henry Almarode, 87, of Front Royal, passed away Wednesday, April 5, 2017.

Mrs. Almarode was born on June 23, 1929, in Front Royal, daughter of Ira William Henry and Maggie Mae Ramey Henry. Mrs. Almarode was married to Raymond D. ìGusî Almarode Jr.

Her parents and husband preceded her in death.

Surviving are one daughter, Terry Almarode Licklider of Stephens City; one sister, Audrey Henry Carter of Front Royal; two grandsons; and a special nephew.

A graveside service was held Sunday, April 9, in Prospect Hill Cemetery, conducted by the Rev. Jim Bunce.

Memorial contributions may be made to the House of Hope or to the Blue Ridge Hospice, 333 W. Cork St., Winchester, VA 22601.

Arrangements were handled by Maddox Funeral Home, Front Royal.



Dorothy A. Booker


Dorothy Ada Booker, 98, of Front Royal, went to be with the Lord on Monday, April 3, 2017.

A Celebration of Life was conducted Saturday, April 8, at Mount Paran Baptist Church, Linden, with the Rev. Donald Reid presiding. Burial followed in Good Hope Cemetery, Front Royal.

Arrangements were handled by Turner-Robertshaw Funeral Home, Front Royal.



Eleanor M. Haman


Eleanor M. Haman, 100, of Front Royal, passed away Friday, March 28, 2017.

The family will receive friends on Saturday, April 8 from 1 p.m. to 2 p.m. at Maddox Funeral Home with

Mrs. Haman was born Oct. 30, 1916, in Fairfax Station, daughter of Wilbur A. McDonald and Mary Eleanor Larkin McDonald. Mrs. Haman was married to Paul Byars Haman.

Surviving are three sons, Wayne M. Haman, Glenn P. Haman and Daryl S. Haman; and numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.

A funeral service was held Saturday, April 8, at Maddox Funeral Home, Front Royal, conducted by the Rev. James Boyette. Burial followed in Panorama Memorial Gardens.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Calvert Hospice, 238 Merrimac Court, Prince Frederick, MD 20678.



Frances L. Mallow


Frances Louise (Riley) Mallow, 76, of Front Royal, and formerly of Petersburg, W.Va., died Wednesday, April 5, 2017.

She was born Dec. 8, 1940 in Petersburg, the daughter of Walter Lee Riley and Leafy (Moats) Riley.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by one son, Ralph M. Mallow Jr.; one brother, Clarence "Pete" Riley; and one sister, Ann Marie (Riley) Hartman.

Frances is survived by her husband, Ralph "Pean" M. Mallow; one son, Joseph P. Mallow of Front Royal; one daughter, Martha Forsyth of Cary, N.C.; two grandchildren, four stepgrandchildren; one brother, Kenneth Riley of Front Royal; and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral service were held Saturday, April 8, at Schaeffer Funeral Home, Petersburg, with Pastor Ronald Rose officiating. Interment was in the South Branch Valley Memorial Gardens, Petersburg.



Warren H. Ramsey


CPO Warren Howard Ramsey (USN, Ret.), 58, of Front Royal, died Monday, March 27, 2017.

A memorial service was held Wednesday, April 5, at Maddox Funeral Home, Front Royal, conducted by the Rev. Tapscott. Inurnment followed in Little Georgetown Cemetery with military honors.

Warren was born Aug. 23, 1958, in Morgan, Ill., son of Jerry Warren Ramsey and Elizabeth Joanne Huffman Ramsey of Laramie, Wyo.

Surviving along with his parents, are two sons, Armondo Ramsey and Andreas Ramsey; his fiancÈe Wanda Horton and her children Faith and David; and two sisters, Kathy Ramsey and Ellen Perkins.



Edmund E. Riker Sr.


Edmund Ellerson Riker Sr., 84, of Front Royal, passed away peacefully on Thursday, April 6, 2017.

Mr. Riker was born on May 9, 1932, in Washington, D.C., son of Homer M. Riker and Josephine Desmond Riker Webb.

In addition to his parents, he was recently preceded in death by his loving wife, Ruth Blackwell Riker.

Surviving are five children, Edmund E. Riker Jr., Blake Riker, Mark F. Riker, Sally Nobbs and Michael L. Riker Sr.; two half sisters, Mary Jo Blaine and Victoria Gregory, both of Suitland, Md.; eight grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.

A funeral service was held Wednesday, April 12, at Maddox Funeral Home, conducted by Pastor Danny Clegg. Interment followed in the Panorama Memorial Gardens, Waterlick, with military honors.

Mary H. Rudacille


Mary E. Henry Rudacille, 85, of Amissville, died Tuesday, April 4, 2017.

She was married to her late husband William Parry Rudacille for 52 years.

She was raised by her late grandmother Nellie M. Henry of Front Royal.

She leaves to cherish her memories her church family and devoted friends.

A graveside service was held Tuesday, April 11, at the Amissville Baptist Church Cemetery, Amissville. A walk through viewing was held at Maddox Funeral Home, Front Royal. Another viewing was held at the cemetery.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Amissville Baptist Church.



Malia B. Wells


Malia Rebecca Brock Wells, 50 , of Front Royal, died on Monday, April 3, 2017.

Mrs. Wells was born June 28, 1966, in Houston, daughter of Darden Brock of Front Royal and the late Harold Dean Michael Brock.

Surviving are her husband, George Thomas Wells; eight children, Rebecca, Thomas, Sarah, Elizabeth, Stephen, Joseph, Mary and Anthony; brothers and sisters, Laura McMahon, Tom Brock, Mark Brock, Steve Brock, Paul Brock, Catherine Jerge and John Brock; and one granddaughter.

A Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated Friday, April 7, at St. John the Baptist Roman Catholic Church, conducted by the Rev. Kevin Beres. Burial followed in Prospect Hill Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Front Royal Pregnancy Center, 11 S. Royal Ave., Front Royal, VA 22630.

Arrangements were handled by Maddox Funeral Home, Front Royal.



James L. Wilson


SCPO James Lewis Wilson (U.S. Navy, Ret.), 82. of Front Royal, died Saturday, April 8, 2017.

Mr. Wilson was born Oct. 12, 1934 in Besoco, W.Va., son of Lewis Herman Wilson and Beatrice Virginia Shrewsbury Wilson.

Surviving are his wife, Natashya A. Wilson; children, James Lloyd Wilson, John Thomas Wilson, Charles Edward Wilson, Debra Ruth Sullivan, Jeff Lee Wilson, Tressa Marie Helms, Steven Lewis Wilson, Elise Nicole Nicholson and Larrisa Anya Wilson; one sister, Joanna Beam; 16 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews.

A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. today at Maddox Funeral Home, 105 W. Main St., Front Royal, with military honors conducted by the U.S. Navy and Winchester VFW Post 2123.
