Martha R. Grim

Martha Ann Robinson Grim, 86, of Strasburg, passed away Saturday, May 20, 2017.

Mrs. Grim was born June 8, 1930, in Warren County, a daughter of James Samuel and Mary Elizabeth Putnam Robinson.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband Ralph Hunter "Buddy" Grim, whom she married on June 19, 1950, in Hagerstown, Md.; sisters Gladys Fishel, Iona Combs, Betty Keller and Mary Elliott; and brothers Hamp Robinson and Shirley Robinson.

Survivors include her children Gloria Sue Wymer, Roger W. Grim, Michael H. Grim, Sr. and Stephen J. Grim, all of Strasburg, and Carolyn G. Mobley of Front Royal; brother Ray Robinson of Strasburg; six grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.

A funeral service for Mrs. Grim was conducted Wednesday, May 24, at the Stover Memorial Chapel, with the Rev. Wendell Schurtz officiating. Burial followed in Panorama Memorial Gardens, Warren County.

Memorial may be made to Strasburg Rescue Squad, P.O. Box 620, Strasburg, VA.

Arrangements were handled by Stover Funeral Home and Crematory Inc., Strasburg.

Gloria C. Johnson

Gloria Marie Crabill Johnson, 89, of Winchester, passed away Sunday, May 21, 2017.

Mrs. Johnson was born July 22, 1927, in Strasburg, the daughter of Ralph B. and Eula E. Crabill. Gloria married J.B. Johnson Jr. on June 18, 1954, in Arlington. He preceded her in death in 2002.

Surviving are her daughter Heather Karyn Johnson; sons Tracy Johnson and Noll Horan; two grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and sisters Eleanor Miller of Strasburg, and Oneida Seitz of Reese, Mich.

In addition to her parents and husband, her sister Dorothy Arthur preceded her in death.

A graveside service will be conducted at 2 p.m. today in Shenandoah Memorial Park with Pastor Mike Mayton officiating. Memorial contributions in memory of Gloria can be made to Millwood Station Fire and Rescue, 252 Costello Drive, Winchester, VA 22602; Blue Ridge Hospice, 333 W. Cork St., Suite 405, Winchester, VA 22601; or to American Heart Association, 4217 Park Place Court, Glen Allen, VA 23060-9979.

Arrangements were handled by Omps Funeral Home, Winchester.

Edward J. McMurray Jr.

Edward Joseph McMurray Jr., 73, of Linden, died Thursday, May 18, 2017.

Mr. McMurray was born June 12, 1943, in Philadelphia, son of Edward Joseph McMurray Sr. and Jean McIntosh McKinnon McMurray.

Surviving are his wife Mary McMurray of Linden; twin sons Seth McMurray of Winchester and Aaron McMurray of Woodstock; son Edward Joseph Killian Jr. of Beverly Hills, Calif.; siblings Tom McMurray of Stafford, Jane McMurray of Reston, John McMurray of Rappahannock County and Kerry McMurray of Tucson, Ariz.; and eight grandchildren.

A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, May 26, at Linden United Methodist Church, conducted by the Rev. Terry Hendricks with military honors presented by the U.S. Army.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests that memorial contributions be made to Blue Ridge Hospice, 333 W. Cork St., Winchester, VA 22601.

Arrangements are being handled by Maddox Funeral Home, Front Royal.

Anthony W. Reil

Anthony Wade Reil, 48, of Browntown, passed away Sunday, May 21, 2017, in his home.

Anthony was born Oct. 13, 1968, son of Judy Steed Reil of Front Royal.

Surviving with his mother are his wife Mindi Jones Reil; son Ryan Anthony Reil of Browntown; daughter Hannah Elizabeth Reil of Browntown; brother Scott Reil of Ruston, Wash.; sisters Debbie Reil and Tina Spiker, both of Front Royal; devoted canine daughter Penny; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be private.

Shirley J. Testerman

Shirley J. Testerman, 80, of Front Royal, passed away on Monday, May 15, 2017.

Mrs. Testerman was born March 18, 1937, in Green Cove, daughter of Robert Farmer and Fannie McCoy Farmer.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brother Howard Farmer; sisters, Faye Luther and Janet Hall; and one granddaughter.

Surviving are her husband T.A. Testerman; son Michael W. Testerman of Stephens City; daughters Teresa L. Dell of Troutdale and Lisa D. Hagenson of Culpeper; eight grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.

A funeral service and gathering was held Wednesday, May 17, at Maddox Funeral Home in Front Royal, with Pastor Earl Taylor officiating. A second funeral service was held Friday, May 19, at the White Top Baptist Church, with Pastors Earl Taylor and Harley Farmer officiating. Burial followed in the Byars Cemetery in White Top.

Arrangements are being handled by Maddox Funeral Home, Front Royal, and Reins-Sturdivant Funeral Home, Independence.

Manuel De Jesus Urena-Martinez

Manuel De Jesus Urena-Martinez, 72, of Front Royal, passed away Monday, May 15, 2017.

Mr. Urena-Martinez was born on Aug. 6, 1944, in the Dominican Republic, to Expolidor Urena and Teresa Martinez.

Survivors include his wife Thelma Maritza Urena; daughter Kisyl Housden; sons Manuel Urena Hernandez and Johan Urena Hernandez; sisters Josefina Urena and Petronila Urena; brother Edmundo Urena and four grandchildren.

Funeral services were held Thursday, May 18, at Maddox Funeral Home, Front Royal. Burial followed at Prospect Hill Cemetery.
