Larry S. Bradley


Larry Steve Bradley, 66, of Luray, died on Friday, July 7, 2017, at Winchester Medical Center.

Mr. Bradley was born on Oct. 22, 1950, in Luray and was a son of the late Robert Clyde Bradley and Leoma Irene Bradley.

He is survived by two sons, Steve ìTeeî Bradley of Elkton, and Donnie Orye of Bentonville; two sisters, Judith Arlene Good and Sandra Kay Painter, both of Stanley; three brothers, Bobby Carlton and C. Melvin Bradley, both of Luray, and Douglas Clyde Bradley of New Market; and five grandchildren. He was preceded in death by two brothers, G. Page Bradley and James Leroy Hoak.

A funeral service was conducted Monday, July 10, at the Bradley Funeral Home, Luray, by Pastor Andy Seastrom. Burial was in the Beahmís Chapel Cemetery in Luray.

Memorial contributions may be made to the family to help with expenses.



Christopher S. Dodson


Christopher Shawn Dodson, 46, of Strasburg, passed away Monday, July 17, 2017, at Winchester Medical Center.

Christopher was born in Front Royal Aug. 26, 1970, the son of Charles William and Bonnie Sue Grim Dodson.

In addition to his parents, he is survived by his wife Dawn Dodson; daughter Mia Dodson; sister Brandie Millar of Berryville; and paternal grandmother Anna Dodson.

A funeral service will be conducted at 11 a.m. Friday, July 21, at Turner-Robertshaw Funeral Home, 1200 N. Shenandoah Ave., with Pastors Diann and Bobby Whetzel officiating. Burial will follow in Prospect Hill Cemetery.

The family will receive friends on from 6 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home.

After the services Friday, the family will host a fellowship gathering at the North Warren Fire Station, 266 Rockland Court.



Patricia S. Drummond


Patricia "Pat" LaVerne Simpson Drummond, 84, of Strasburg, passed away Wednesday, July 12, 2017.

Mrs. Drummond was born Nov. 11, 1932, in Amherst County, and was a daughter of the late William Craton and Lottie Ella Drumheller Simpson.

In addition to her parents and husband James Christian Drummond Sr., she was preceded in death by her son, Joe Drummond; six sisters and one brother.

Survivors include her children, Sylvia Spiker of Middletown and Jimmy Drummond Jr., Gino Drummond and Cynthia Beydler, all of Strasburg; four grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.

A graveside service for Mrs. Drummond was conducted Monday, July 17, at Panorama Memorial Gardens with Pastor Keith Warren officiating.

Memorials may be made to Blue Ridge Hospice, 333 W. Cork St., Winchester, VA 22601. The family asks that, in memory of their mother's kindness, you pay it forward.

Arrangements were handled by Stover Funeral Home and Crematory Inc., Strasburg.



Peggy A. Foster


Peggy Anne Foster, 53. of New Market, passed away Monday, July 10, 2017, at her home.

She was born April 25, 1964, and was a daughter of Vera Mae Fouts Shurtz of Front Royal and the late Dale Arthur Shurtz.

She is survived by her daughter, Samantha (Alex) Keller of Basye; son Kevin Tunstall of Winchester; sister Susan Puckett of Bristol, Va.; brother Stephen Shurtz of Front Royal; and two grandsons.

Memorial services will be at a later date.

Dennis L. Lockhart Sr.


Dennis Lawrence Lockhart Sr., 70, of Woodstock, passed away Saturday, July 8, 2017, at Retreat Doctors Hospital, Richmond.

He was born July 27, 1946, in Front Royal, and was a son of the late Elmer Merle and Leslie Lee Simons Lockhart.

Surviving are two sons, Tim (Patricia) Lockhart of Henrico and Bryan Lockhart of Edinburg; daughter-in-law Rita Lockhart; 10 grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; sister, Carol Jean Fisher of Austin, Texas; and brother Lee Lockhart of Front Royal.

He was preceded in death by his son Larry Lockhart Jr. and sister, Linda Neff.

A funeral was held Thursday, July 13, at Stover Memorial Chapel, Strasburg. Burial followed in Panorama Memorial Gardens, Warren County.

Herbert M. McCall Jr.


Herbert Meek McCall Jr., 93 of Front Royal, passed away on Thursday, July 13, 2017.

Funeral services were held Monday, July 17, at Lotz Funeral Home, Salem. Burial was in Fairview Cemetery, Roanoke.



Roberta G. Runyon


Roberta Gibson Runyon, 63, of Front Royal, passed away Friday, July 14, 2017.

Mrs. Runyon was born June 28, 1954, in Bethesda, Md., and was a daughter of the late George Gibson Titus and Janet Ramona Shipe Titus of Front Royal.

Surviving along with her mother is her husband, Richard L. Runyon Sr. of Front Royal; son Richard L. Runyon Jr. of Front Royal; and siblings George H. Titus and Mary Donovan, both of Front Royal.

A memorial service will be held at 6 p.m. today at Maddox Funeral Home, 105 W. Main St. The family will receive friends after the service until 8 p.m.

Elaine A. Thomas


Elaine Esther Andrews Thomas, daughter of John Heckman Andrews and Mary Mabel Tamkin, was born Jan. 31, 1927, along Narrow Passage Creek in Calvary, Shenandoah County, and passed away July 15, 2017 in Bentonville.

Elaine was married to LeRoy Wesley Thomas for 68 years until his death in 2015.

Surviving are two sons, Paul Thomas of Front Royal and Gary Thomas of Kill Devil Hills, N.C.; four grandchildren; two great-grandchildren and two nieces.

Services will be private.

Memorial donations may be made to First Baptist Church of Front Royal.

Arrangements are being handled by Maddox Funeral Home Inc., Front Royal.



Ronald L. Thompson Sr.


Ronald Lee Thompson Sr., 62, of Front Royal, passed away July 10, 2017.

Mr. Thompson was born Aug. 19, 1954, in Front Royal, and was a son of Virgie Thompson and the late Frank Thompson.

In addition to his mother, Mr. Thompson is survived by his sons, Ronald L. Thompson Jr. and Brian Thompson, all of Front Royal; his brothers, Gary Thompson and Wayne Thompson, both of Front Royal; his sisters, Tammy Henry of Front Royal and Ella Thompson of Rileyville; and three grandchildren.

In addition to his father, Mr. Thompson was preceded in death by his brother Charles Thompson and sister Dora Lynn Sturtevant.

A graveside service was conducted Saturday, July 15, in Prospect Hill Cemetery.

Arrangements are being handled by Turner-Robertshaw Funeral Home, Front Royal.
