Dorothy V. Bradbury


Dorothy Vernon Bradbury, 89, of Strasburg passed away Saturday, Aug. 5, 2017.

Dorothy was born Feb. 21, 1928, in Houston, and was a daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. R.M. Bradbury of Kilgore, Texas.

She is survived by her children, Jane Munden Flores of Bulverde, Texas, Edward B. Munden of Centreville, and Janeas Munden of Woodstock; 12 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; nieces and nephews; and a brother.

Per her wishes, Dottie's body has been donated to the University of Virginia School of Medicine. When her work there is complete, a memorial service will be held in Rehoboth Beach, Del.

Glenn L. Davis


Glenn Lyle Davis, 56, a resident of Front Royal, passed away Wednesday, Aug. 2, 2017.

He was born on Aug. 1, 1961, a son of the late Glenn Davis and Jeanette Louise Fry.

Survivors include his companion, Michelle Renee Pangle of Front Royal; his daughter, Kylee Renee Davis of Front Royal; his siblings, Dennis L. Fry and Eugene Eric Davis, both of Alexandria, and Debra Sue Fry of Florida; and numerous aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews.

A graveside service for Mr. Davis was conducted Saturday in Riverview Cemetery with Pastor Keith Warren officiating.

Memorials may be made to Blue Ridge Hospice, 333 W. Cork St., Winchester, VA 22601.

Arrangements were handled by Stover Funeral Home and Crematory Inc., Strasburg.



Patsy B. Hammack


Patsy Lee Brooks "Pat" Hammack, 69, of Front Royal, passed away Saturday, Aug. 5, 2017.

Pat was born Oct. 4, 1947, in Front Royal, a daughter of the late Clarence Edward Brooks and Margaret Evelyn Clements Brooks.

Surviving are her husband, Harry Wesley "Wes" Hammack II; three children, Edward Wesley "Eddie" Hammack of Front Royal, Jason Scott Hammack of Stephens City, and Tara Rae Rutherford a of Middletown; one sister, Doris Robbins of Front Royal; seven grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

A funeral service was held Wednesday, Aug. 9, at First Baptist Church, Front Royal, conducted by Rev. Dr. R. Mark Jordon. Burial followed in Prospect Hill Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to First Baptist Church, 14 West 1st Street, Front Royal, VA 22630 or to Blue Ridge Hospice, 333 West Cork Street, Winchester, VA 22601.

Arrangements were handled by Maddox Funeral Home, Front Royal.



Virginia L. Morrison


Virginia Lee Morrison, 88, of Front Royal, passed away Sunday, Aug. 6, 2017.

Virginia was born on Sept. 29, 1928, in Front Royal, a daughter of the late Kennen and Odessa Durham Winsboro.

Virginia is survived by her daughters, Caroline S. McLaughlin of Greenville and Melissa Keefer of Star Tannery; her sisters, Charlotte Horn of Mountain Home, Ark., and Mary Hines of Stephens City; her six grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

In addition to her parents, Virginia was preceded in death by her husband, Francis Morrison in 2012.

A graveside service will be conducted at 3 p.m. Friday, Aug. 11, in Panorama Memorial Gardens, with the Revs. Seth Alcorn and Larry Veach officiating.

Arrangements are being handled by Turner-Robertshaw Funeral Home, Front Royal.



Helen H. Partlow


Helen Marie Hottle Partlow, 87, of Browntown, passed away Tuesday, Aug. 1, 2017.

Mrs. Partlow was born April 16, 1930, in Wardensville, W.Va., a daughter of the late Benjamin and Cora Alice Heishman Hottle. She was married to Ralph A. Partlow, who preceded her in death.

Surviving are two sons, Benny Partlow of Browntown and Glen Partlow of Woodstock; three grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by her son, Lynwood Partlow.

A funeral service was held Friday, Aug. 4, at Maddox Funeral Home, Front Royal, conducted by Elders Jonathan Cook and Gary Utz. Burial followed in Panorama Memorial Gardens.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests that memorial contributions be made to South River Primitive Baptist Church, c/o Sam Baggarly, 1141 Elm St., Front Royal, VA 22630.?



John H. Spiggle Sr.


John Hampson Spiggle Sr., 80, of Toms Brook, passed away July 29, 2017, at Blue Ridge Hospice in Winchester.

He was born March 20, 1937, in Toms Brook, a son of the late Harry Hampson Spiggle and Laura Virginia Beaver Spiggle.

He is survived by three sons, Thomas Spiggle, Gary Spiggle and John H. Spiggle II and companion, Julie Snider; brother Ralph J. Spiggle; two grandchildren, Thomas Spiggle II and Amber Spiggle; and four great-grandchildren.

He is also survived by his many friends and employees of the Woodstock Moose.

At his request, his body has been donated to the Virginia State Anatomical Association.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Blue Ridge Hospice, 333 W. Cork St., Winchester, VA 22601.

Arrangements were handled by Valley Funeral Service of Edinburg.



Helen L. Wright


Helen Louise Wright, 75, of Front Royal, passed away Sunday, Aug. 6, 2017.

Mrs. Wright was born Nov. 16, 1941, in Laurel, Md., a daughter of the late Norman and Vergie Mills Dustin.

Mrs. Wright is survived by her husband, Francis Wright; her sons, Richard A. Smith Jr. of Star Tannery, Charles W. Smith of Hosford, Fla., Brian K. Smith of Front Royal, Ronald W. Smith of Front Royal and Donald E. Gue of Strasburg; her daughters, Brenda L. Settle of Front Royal and Helen R. Gue of Stephens City; her brothers, Vernon Dustin, Tommy Dustin, Warren Dustin, and Billy Dustin; her 15 grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and her cherished pets, her dog Teddy and her cat Smokey.

In addition to her parents, Mrs. Wright was preceded in death by her sister, Maxine Snoots.

A funeral service will be conducted at 10 a.m. today at Turner-Robertshaw Funeral Home, 1200 N. Shenandoah Ave. Burial will follow at 3 p.m. in the Union Cemetery of Montgomery, Burtonsville, Md..



Barbara D. Yesner


Barbara D. Yesner, 96, of Front Royal, passed away Sunday, Aug. 6, 2017.

Mrs. Yesner was born Feb. 21, 1921, in Breckenridge, Texas, a daughter of the late Eugene Perry Doyle and Nellie Sanders Canfield Doyle.

She also was preceded in death by her husband, Jack Yesner.

Survivors include two daughters, Janet Wachsmuth of Alaska and Julia Bragan of Bentonville; two grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

A memorial service will be held at Page United Methodist Church, Luray, at a later date.
