John A. Deavers

John Austin Deavers, 43, of Front Royal, passed away Thursday, Oct. 12, 2017.

John was born July 31, 1974, in Woodstock, and was a son of Harry David Deavers, Jr. of Front Royal and Donna K. Smith of Front Royal.

Surviving with his parents are the mother of his children, Rebecca Anne Deavers of Front Royal; son Tyler Austin Deavers of Front Royal; daughters Kelsey Anne Deavers, Victoria Mae Deavers and Mary Allison Deavers, all of Front Royal; twin brother James E. Deavers of Browntown; sisters Evelyn R. Baggette of Rileyville and Pamela S. Butler of Front Royal; stepbrothers James C. Cox of Luray and Thomas R. Cox of Strasburg; stepsisters Lisa C. Bull of New Market and Marie M. Martin of Front Royal; two grandsons and several cousins, nieces, and nephews.

John was preceded in death by his brother Harry David Deavers III, a grandson and his stepmother Patricia L. Deavers.

A funeral service was held Sunday, Oct. 15, at Maddox Funeral Home, conducted by Sammy Campbell. Interment followed in the Prospect Hill Cemetery.

William A. Hall

William Amos Hall, 87, of Front Royal, passed away Thursday, Oct. 12, 2017, at his home.

Mr. Hall was born May 22, 1930, in Limeton, and was the son of the late Eston Neese and Lelia Alma Jones Hall.

He was the last member of his immediate family to be born and in death. He was preceded in death by his sisters Eunice Geneva Hall, Edna Ernestine Downs, Alma Elizabeth Rudacille and Leslie Katherine Harris; and his brothers Eugene Hall, Robert Wesley Hall, and Cecil Ordway Hall.

He was first married to Opal Oates on July 25, 1952, who preceded him in death July 3, 1985.

He is survived by his wife Ann Hall; his stepson; four stepgrandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

A funeral service was conducted Tuesday, Oct. 17, at Turner-Robertshaw Funeral Home, with the Revs. James Simmons and William Erbach officiating. Burial followed in Shenandoah Memorial Park with military honors.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial contributions be made in his name to Shriners International, Alzheimer's Association, Parkinson's Association, Blue Ridge Hospice, Col. S.R. Millar VFW Post 1860 or Marlow Heights Baptist Church.

Louis Milani

Louis "Keith" Milani, 51, of Winchester, passed away Tuesday, Oct. 3, 2017.

Keith was born Sept. 13, 1966, in Front Royal, and was a son of Louis William Milani and the late Betty Dawson Yates.

Surviving along with his father are his stepmother Nancy Milani; stepbrothers Robert Breeden and Johnny Breeden; aunts, uncles and numerous nieces and nephews.

A graveside service was held Monday, Oct. 9, in Panorama Memorial Gardens, Waterlick.

Arrangements were handled by Maddox Funeral Home, Front Royal.

Virginia D. Morgan

Virginia "Ginny" Dickinson Morgan, 99, of Front Royal, passed away on Thursday, Oct. 12, 2017.

Ginny was born Feb. 14, 1918, in Chancellor, and was the daughter of the late Bernard Stapleton and Julia Jackson Ware Dickinson.

She is survived by sons James Patterson Morgan Jr. of Richmond, Gary Michael Morgan of Round Hill and Jon Thomas Morgan of Clear Brook; four grandchildren and six great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband James Patterson Morgan, brother Andrew Seay; and sisters Orene Todd and Norma Lee Walker.

A funeral service was held Tuesday, Oct. 17, at First Baptist Church of Front Royal, 14 W. 1st St. Burial followed at Prospect Hill Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to First Baptist Church of Front Royal or Blue Ridge Hospice, 333 W. Cork St., Winchester, VA 22601.

Arrangements were handled by Jones Funeral Home, Winchester.

Anne R. Pearson

Anne Delores Royston Pearson, 88, of Bentonville, passed away Sunday Oct. 8, 2017.

Mrs. Pearson was born Jan. 8, 1929, and was a daughter of the late Zachariah Vowell Royston Jr. and Mary Peyton Wilson Royston.

She is survived by her daughters, Shelley P. Gullette of Guilford, Conn., Shawn P. Baldwin of Fairfax and Sheila P. Bishop of Centreville; seven grandchildren; and a great-grandson.

In addition to her parents, Mrs. Pearson was preceded in death by her husband, Lusby Harrison Pearson; brothers Aaron Royston, Claggett Royston and Peyton Vowell Royston; sisters Frances Moffett, Gladys Leonard, Hazel Williams and Valorie Payne; and a granddaughter.

A funeral service was conducted Saturday, Oct. 14, at Turner-Robertshaw Funeral Home, with the Rev. Jim Bunce officiating. Burial followed in Leeds Cemetery, Hume.

The family requests that donations in her name be made to the American Diabetes Association, P.O. Box 15829, Arlington, VA 22215.

David A. Schmiedeknecht

David A. Schmiedeknecht, 80, of Front Royal and formerly of Montague, Mich., died Oct. 15, 2017.

He was born April 9, 1937, in Detroit and was a son of Elmer and Winifred Sundell Schmiedeknecht.

Survivors include his sons Randy Schmiedeknecht of Forest, Terry (Jackie) Schmiedeknecht of Front Royal and Mike Schmiedeknecht of Front Royal; two grandchildren; one future great-grandchild; many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his wife Marie Gill Schmiedeknecht, his parents and sister Gweneth Schmiedeknecht Howe.

As per Mr. Schmiedeknecht's request, a private gathering will be held for family and close friends to celebrate his life.

James E. Smith Jr.

James E. Smith Jr, 78, of Front Royal, died Friday, Oct. 13, 2017.

Mr. Smith was born Nov. 21, 1938, in Washington, D.C., and was a son of the late James E. "Bud" Smith and Shirley Ruth Miller Smith.

Surviving are his wife Helen Smith of Front Royal; son Stephen Smith of Corpus Christi, Texas; sisters Sandra Taylor, Sharon Pullen and Shelia Foster, all of Front Royal; four grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.

A memorial service was held Wednesday, Oct. 18, at Maddox Funeral Home.

Harriet C. Strosnider

Harriet Conner Strosnider, 91, of Strasburg, passed away Monday, Oct. 16, 2017.

Mrs. Strosnider was born Dec. 1, 1925, in Strasburg, and was a daughter of the late Graham Bell Conner Sr. and Zell Knee Conner.

Harriet is survived by her brother Graham Conner Jr. of Woodstock.

A graveside service for Mrs. Strosnider will be conducted at 9 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 21, in Riverview Cemetery, Strasburg, with the Rev. John Haynes officiating.

Arrangements are being handled by Stover Funeral Home and Crematory Inc., Strasburg.

Robert C. Wymer Sr.

Robert Charles "Bobby" Wymer Sr., 74, of Strasburg, passed away Saturday, Oct. 14, 2017.

Bobby was born May 16, 1943, in Star Tannery, and was the youngest child of the late Gerald Vere and Mollie Mae Green Wymer.

Survivors include his wife Linda Copp Wymer of Strasburg; children Robert C. "Chuck" Wymer Jr. of Strasburg and Tina Marie Derricote of Cross Junction; six grandchildren; three great-granddaughters; siblings Helen Keller of Star Tannery, Kenneth Wymer of Stephens City and Lynn Wymer of Star Tannery.

A funeral service for Mr. Wymer was conducted Wednesday, Oct. 18, at the Liberty Baptist Church, Strasburg, with the Revs. Keith Warren and Dusty Dillman officiating. Burial followed in Saumsville Church Cemetery, Maurertown. Military honors were conducted by Shenandoah American Legion Post 77, Strasburg.
