Louise C. Sealock Barbee


Louise Catherine Sealock Barbee, 94, of Linden, passed away Friday, Oct. 20, 2017.

Mrs, Barbee was born Feb. 9, 1923, in Warren County, and was the daughter of Curtis and Fannie Mae Mauck Sealock. Mrs. Barbee was married to the late Hubert William Barbee.

Surviving are two grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her son Douglas William Barbee.

A funeral service was held Wednesday, Oct. 25, at Maddox Funeral Home, conducted by Sammy Campbell. Burial followed in Linden Cemetery.



Fred J. Campbell


Fred J. Campbell, 83, of Warren County, passed away Saturday, Oct. 21, 2017.

Fred was born June 30, 1934, in Warren County, and was a son of the late Aubrey Wood Campbell and Mary Louise Williams Campbell.

Surviving are his wife Minnie Sue Cameron Campbell; son Shannon Heinlen Campbell of Kokomo, Ind.; daughter Vicki Mahoney of Luray; four brothers, Giles Campbell of Fredericksburg, Franky Campbell of Chester Gap, Harold Campbell of Front Royal, and Russell Campbell of Stephens City; and three sisters, Mary Lou Thomas of Front Royal, Etta Call of Amissville and Polly Richards of Chester Gap. He had 11 grandchildren and 18 great-grandchildren.

Fred was preceded in death by his son Michael Ray Campbell.

A funeral service was held Tuesday, Oct. 24, at Maddox Funeral Home, conducted by Pastor Debbie Eisele. Interment was private.

Hunter J. Costello


Hunter James Costello, 19, of Front Royal, passed away Oct. 16, 2017.

Hunter is survived by his father James Costello and his partner Betsy Fisher of Front Royal; mother Sandra Costello and her partner Keith L. Knowles Jr. of Bealeton; sister LeeAnn Michelle Costello of Bealeton; stepbrother Ryan Goldizen; two stepsisters, Ashley and Cindy Goldizen; grandparents; many aunts, uncles and cousins.

Arrangements were handled by Moser Funeral Home, Warrenton.



Zella M. Townley-Drummond


Zella M. Townley-Drummond, 99, of East Orange, N.J., passed away Oct. 16, 2017.

She was born Jan. 6, 1918, to James E. Townley and Clara E. Proctor-Townley in Front Royal. Zella is one of nine siblings.

She is survived by her only living sibling, Flora Poles of Hume.

Zella was preceded in death by her sisters Rosetta Townley-Bennett, Alberta Townley-Banks, Susan Townley-Reams and her brothers Robert, James and Aaron Townley.

Also surviving are two granddaughters, five great-grandchildren, 13 nieces and nephews and multiple great-nieces and nephews.

A graveside service for Ms. Drummond will be conducted at 10 a.m. Friday, Oct. 27, in Good Hope Cemetery, Front Royal, with the Rev. W. Nathaniel Townley officiating.



Rita S. Dunbar


Rita Sue Dunbar, 63, of Front Royal, passed away Sunday, Oct. 22, 2017.

Rita was born Nov. 30, 1953, in Grundy, and was a daughter of the late Edgar Monroe Killen and Gencie Ann Duty Killen.

Surviving is her husband William M. Dunbar Sr.; son William M. "Billy" Dunbar Jr. of Front Royal; two daughters, Pepper Dunbar of Front Royal and Amanda Jenkins of Woodville; three sisters, Reba Ritter of Floyd and Betty Haislip and Diana Grigsby, both of Front Royal; 10 grandchildren; two great-grandchildren and many other family members and friends.

A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. today at Maddox Funeral Home, 105 W. Main St., with Pastor Bobby Stepp officiating. Interment will follow in Prospect Hill Cemetery.

Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society, 1833 Plaza Drive, Winchester, VA 22601.



Ralph D. Mullenax


Ralph Douglas "R.D." Mullenax, 74, of Front Royal, died Monday, Oct. 23, 2017.

Ralph was born Nov. 19, 1942, in Arbovale, W.Va., and was a son of the late Raymond R. Mullenax and Lula Mae Gillispie Wilson.

Surviving are his wife Sandra Bowers-Mullenax of Front Royal; daughter June Mullenax Dawson of Front Royal; son James Mullenax of West Virginia; and three grandchildren.

A graveside service will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, Oct. 28, in Bennett's Chapel Cemetery, conducted by Sammy Campbell.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society, 1833 Plaza Drive, Winchester, VA 22601.

Arrangements are being handled by Maddox Funeral Home Inc., Front Royal.



Roy E. Rhoton


Roy Edward ìZekeî Rhoton, 78, of Winchester, died Monday, Oct. 23, 2017.

Mr. Rhoton was born March 2, 1939, in Gate City, and was a son of the late Floyd and Minnie Presley Rhoton. He was married to the late Ina Mae Rhoton.

Surviving are two sisters, Kathleen Wright of Winchester and Doris A. Perrin of Royal Oak, Mich.; two brothers, James E. Rhoten of Elwood, Texas, and Fred Rhoton of Stephens City; and three grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his daughter Jody; two brothers, Donald Rhoton and Kyle Rhoton; and two sisters, Lois Payne and Joyce Sue Seekford.

The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. today at Maddox Funeral Home, 105 W. Main St. A funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. Friday the funeral Home, conducted by Samuel Campbell. Inurnment will be held in Prospect Hill Cemetery at a later date.



Ernest L. Showers


Ernest Leroy "Roy" Showers, of Springfield, passed away July 4, 2014.

Roy was raised in Linden, Fauquier County.

Roy is survived by his wife Linda "Lynn" Showers; aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews and a host of cousins.

He was preceded in death by his father William Showers Sr. and brother William "Jack" Showers Jr.

Interment was held Saturday in Leeds Cemetery, Markham.
