Elizabeth B. Atkins

Elizabeth "Liz" Butler Atkins, 79, of Front Royal, passed away on Monday, Oct. 30, 2017.

Mrs. Atkins was born on July 4, 1938 in Milldale, and was a daughter of the late Raymond and Louise Butler.

Surviving are three sons, Ricky Herman Atkins, Donnie Ray Atkins, and Johnny Atkins, all of Front Royal; brother Charles Raymond ìBojoî Butler of Bentonville, Ark.; four grandchildren; two great-grandchildren.

Mrs. Atkins was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Smoky Atkins and three sisters, Helen Green, Gloria Clark and Mary Murphy.

The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday, Nov. 3, at the Maddox Funeral Home, 105 W. Main St. A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 4, at the funeral home, conducted by Sammy Campbell. Interment will follow in the Rockland Community Cemetery.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Lynn Care Patient Fund, 1000 N. Shenandoah Ave., Front Royal, VA 22630.

Elizabeth A. Lisa Ramey-Baugher

Elizabeth A. Lisa Ramey-Baugher, 44, of Front Royal, passed away Wednesday, Oct. 25, 2017, in Front Royal.

Lisa was born Feb. 11, 1973, in Front Royal, daughter of Larry Alfred Ramey and Karen D. Ramey-Furr.

Surviving are her mother, Karen D. (Don) Ramey-Furr of Stephens City; her father, Larry (Iris) Ramey; son Ryan Michael Pennington of Front Royal; husband Toby Baugher of Front Royal; stepsisters Heather Furr of Front Royal and Shelly Zoller of North Carolina; stepbrothers Robby Zoller of Pennsylvania and Kenny Zoller of New Orleans.

A celebration of Lisa's life will be held at 2 p.m. today at Maddox Funeral Home, 105 W. Main St., with Sammy Campbell officiating. Interment will be private.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Humane Society of Warren County, 1245 Progress Drive, Front Royal, VA 22630.

Mason R. Cullers

Mason Randall Cullers, 25, of Stephens City, passed away Monday, Oct. 23, 2017.

Mason was born on Oct. 24, 1991, in Woodstock, and was a son of Michael Scott Shipe and Lisa Cullers Turner.

Surviving along with his parents are his stepfather Kenny Turner of Stephens City; stepmother Michelle Shipe of Stephens City; partner Jessica Vaughan and unborn child, of Stephens City; brothers Aidan Turner, Matthew Shipe and Merrit Shipe, all of Stephens City; sisters Maura Turner and Maelin Shipe, both of Stephens City; numerous uncles, aunts and cousins.

A celebration of life was held Sunday, Oct. 29, at Maddox Funeral Home, Front Royal, with Sammy Campbell officiating.

Zella M. Townley-Drummond

Zella M. Townley-Drummond, 99, of East Orange, N.J., passed away Oct. 16, 2017.

She was born Jan. 6, 1918, to James E. Townley and Clara E. Proctor-Townley in Front Royal. Zella is one of nine siblings. She is survived by her only living sibling, Flora Poles of Hume.

Zella was preceded in death by her sisters Rosetta Townley-Bennett, Alberta Townley-Banks, Susan Townley-Reams and her brothers Robert, James, Aaron Townley and Wilbur A. Townley.

Surviving are two granddaughters, five great-grandchildren, 13 nieces and nephews and multiple great-nieces and nephews.

A graveside service for Ms. Drummond was conducted Friday, Oct. 27, 2017, in Good Hope Cemetery, Front Royal, with the Rev. W. Nathaniel Townley officiating.

The Rev. Gerald A. Holden

The Rev. Gerald Andrew Holden of Middletown passed away Oct. 30, 2017.

Gerald was born Dec. 10, 1947, in Perry Sound, Canada, the son of James Eric Holden and Marion Michaelis Holden.

He is survived by his wife, Dora ìDottieî Johnson Holden of Middletown; brother Harold Dennis Holden of Seminole, Fla.; sisters Juanita Senter and Emogene Ringer of Middletown; five nephews, four nieces, many great-nephews and nieces, and great-great-nieces.

He was preceded in death by his parents, brother Robert Paul Holden, and sisters Violet Holden Johnston and Virginia Ruth Holden Bingaman.

A Celebration of Life service will be held on at 2 p.m. Friday, Nov. 3, at Strasburg Assembly of God Church, 556 Ash St., Strasburg. A viewing will be held from 7 to 9 p.m. today at Maddox Funeral Home, 105 W. Main St., Front Royal.

Amanda S. Stone

Amanda Spaulding "Spaldo" Stone, 36, of Front Royal, passed away Thursday, Oct. 26, 2017.

Amanda was born Sept. 4, 1981, in Falls Church, and was a daughter of late Dennis Michael Spaulding and Cheryl and Richard Rutherford.

Along with her father, she was preceded in death by her brother, Michael Anthony Spaulding.

Surviving along with her mother are her two brothers, John Michael Rutherford and Richard Anthony Rutherford, both of Front Royal; a niece and several aunts, uncles and cousins.

A memorial service will be held at 6 p.m. today at Maddox Funeral Home, 105 W. Main St.

Alma B. Talbott

Alma Belle Talbott, 102, of Virginia Beach, passed away Oct. 26, 2017.

She was born July 27, 1915 in Lockland, Ohio, and was a daughter of the late Samuel and Celestia Baker Gooch. She was a longtime resident of Front Royal.

She was the wife of the late Leonard Blesson Talbott and mother to the late Charles Leonard Talbott and the late grandmother to two grandsons.

She also was preceded in death by four sisters and two brothers.

Left to cherish her memory are her seven daughters, Betty Williams, Eleanor Butler, Barbara Ramey, Gloria ìJeannieî Williams, Brenda Barton, Mable Dacheux, and Nancy Deneen; 34 grandchildren and numerous great-grandchildren, great-great grandchildren and great-great-great grandchildren.

A going-home service will be held at 11 a.m. today at First Assembly of God, 1111 N. Shenandoah Ave., Front Royal. Burial will follow at Prospect Hill Cemetery.

Arrangements were handled by Maddox Funeral Home Inc., Front Royal.
