East Rock’s Shifflett, Central’s Scott earn MVP honors in Valley All-Star game

In the second annual Holtzman Oil and Propane Shenandoah Valley All-Star Game, East Rockingham senior Madison Shifflett was named team MVP after Team South's 70-57 victory over Team North on Sunday at Harrisonburg High School.

HHS boys basketball coach Don Burgess organized the event, which featured three games — two boys contests and one girls game — and rosters entirely of seniors to showcase themselves in front of non-Division I coaches.

Central's Tamra Scott was named Team North's MVP in the girls game.

In the second boys showdown, Team Hatcher defeated Team Bergey 130-109 in games coached by legendary retired coaches Paul Hatcher of R.E. Lee and Roger Bergey of HHS. Team Hatcher's MVP was Lee forward and Marshall commit Darius George, while Amherst County's Micah James was awarded Team Bergey's MVP honor.

In the first boys game, a 96-83 Team North victory, Amherst's CJ Loving was Team North's MVP while R.E. Lee's Manny Johnson received Team South's individual honor.
