Football Roundup, 10/6: Luray and Central win Massive District Showdowns

Luray and Central announced their formal arrival as 2A title contenders in this week's schedule roundup.

This Weekend's Highlights:

Luray 42, Robert E. Lee 33*

In a battle of two previously unbeaten teams, Luray (6-0) scored touchdowns on its first three possessions, while Lee (6-1) turned the ball over on its first two. The second half turned into a track meet, but Luray outlasted the Leemen, thanks in part to a 6-minute touchdown drive in the fourth quarter that started when quarterback/linebacker Dylan Jenkins ripped the ball away from a Lee receiver.

Central 40, Clarke County 0*

The Falcons have a vicegrip on the Bull Run District after a methodical shutout in Berryville.

Strasburg 22, George Mason 21

In a shocking upset, tailback Austin Miller scored the deciding touchdowns from 28 yards out, and the Rams successfully attempted a 2-point conversion with 1:43 left in the game to upset unbeaten George Mason in Falls Church.
